Overview
BSC6800 performance management
It is used to collect and output the
performance data of BSC6800 or the
network through M2000
− Reflects network performance
− Provides evidence for network
maintenance and optimization
− System monitor and maintenance

BSC6800 Performance Management System The performance management system consists of :
BSC6800− includes boards of various types, implements performance measurements under t
he control of M2000 − reports the measured results to the M2000
M2000− works as the control center of the performance management system of BSC6800,
and performs Functional Interfaces
− provides external interfaces for further development− provides data interfaces for the network optimization tools of Huawei

Period for reporting performance measurement results
Periodic measurement
− The host reports the measurement results periodically
− The M2000 supports the periodic measurement for multi
ple NEs at the same time
Real time measurement
− The host reports the measurement results in a very shor
t time
− The network performance data is collected based on the
periodic measurement

Measurement has three types of attributes and each
attribute contains several parameters
Object attribute
− Who is to be measured
Counter attribute
− What of an object is to be measured
Time attribute
− When is to be measured

Measurement object
It may be the physical board, the subrack, or the logical cell
The type of performance measurement objects on the NE falls into the following th
ree classes:
− For the first class of object type
▪ the measurement is performed on all instances of this type by default
− For the second class of object type
▪ you need to specify the measurement instance
− For the third class of object type
▪ you need to enter specific attributes of the instance
The NE determines to which class of object type a performance measurement obje
ct belongs

Measurement counter
Performance measurement counters are performance measurement objects
specific
− Default counters
▪ The KPI counter refers to some important measurement counters
defined by the NE
▪ The Ext counter refers to all other counters except the KPI counter
− Customer counter
▪ to form a new performance counter by adding, subtracting,
multiplying and dividing the original counters
− Counter threshold
▪ define the value range of this counter

Measurement time
Performance measurement duration
− Unlimited duration
− Limited duration
Performance measurement time
− Measure per day
− Measure per week
− Measure per month

Measurement time
Time segment
− determines the time segment in which the a performance
measurement outputs measurement data on the measurement day
− A measurement day can be divided into up to three time segments
Granularity period
− During a valid time segment, a performance measurement output
results using the selected granularity period as the granularity period
− There are five types of granularity periods:
▪ 5 minutes/15 minutes/30 minutes/1 hour/1 day

Measuring Network Performance
The prerequisite are as follows:
− You have obtained the network structure and performance
measurement requirement
− You have obtained the performance measurement counters,
objects, and other necessary information about the relevant
BSC6800
− You have logged in to M2000 successfully
− You have the authority for network performance
measurement
