FAQ’s• Q: Where can we find “Track” Information ?• A: Brief descriptions for each technical track will be posted on line, along with charts/tables and other departmental handouts available to students
• Q: Can we switch Concentration Tracks after the initial choice ?• A: Yes, if one can switch and still meet the 2 course plus 1 lab requirement.
• Q: Will Tech Electives be offered every semester ?• A: A tentative schedule with a list of technical electives (offered in the Fall and Spring semesters) will be available at the department’s website to allow students to develop their plans.
• Q: Are there any new GPA requirements ?• A: GPA requirements currently remain the same.
FAQ’s• Q: Will these changes affect students in the program today ?
• A1: students currently in the BSEE program can choose to continue using the catalog year they entered USF, or
• A2: can choose to follow the new requirements, if they have enough hours left to be able to complete the new track requirements.
• A3: advisors will do degree audits to determine which option benefits the students without delaying graduation or incurring excess hours.
• Q: Some EE courses will no longer be offered, and are being replaced by new/upgraded ones; what happens to those who can no longer take the “discontinued” courses ?
• A: for every ”discontinued” course an equivalent course has been created; for example EEL 4471/Electromagnetics (3 credits) is being updated with the new EEL 3472C/EE Science II (4 credits). EEL 4471 can be replaced with EEL 3472C and the extra credit hour will be credited toward the student’s tech electives.
• Q: What is the difference between an advisor and a faculty mentor?• Advisors can guide you through course registration, permitting and other processes – i.e. the logistics of registration/graduation (forms, applications, etc.).
• Faculty mentors offer academic and professional/career guidance (help choose tech electives etc.); they will not be doing degree audits, issuing permits or signing forms that the university requires.
