DESCRIPTION

Nothing comes close to the thrill of a show and as a member of a production team you'll play a vital role in every performance. The first of its kind in the region, this course has been designed by Live Theatre and Gateshead College to provide students with the skills and knowledge that employers are looking for. Students will work on productions with student and professional performers in music, dance and drama, enabling learners to develop skills across all aspects of theatre production.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements are 4 grade C or above GCSE or equivalent, ideallyincluding English and Maths. You will alsoneed to attend an interview. Althoughthis is not a performance course, aninterest in performing arts, bringing aperformance to life and working withperformers is essential.

The first of its kind in the region, thiscourse has been designed by GatesheadCollege, in partnership with the LiveTheatre, to provide you with the skills and knowledge that employers arelooking for.

You’ll work on productions with studentand professional performers in music,dance and drama, enabling you to developskills across all aspects of backstageproduction.

This comprehensive course will cover: - Stage Management- Lighting- Sound- Props- Stage Design- Film & TV Craft.

You’ll also become equipped with an‘Industry Skills Passport’ - skills that arevital for a career in this industry andcertification for skills that employerswant, including: first aid, rigging, electricalsafety, risk assessment and manualhandling.

A significant amount of your study willtake place at Live Theatre, one of thecountry's leading new writing theatres,working with a professional productionteam on real projects. The remainder ofyour study will be based at our fantastic£39million Baltic Campus.

Our team have a wealth of industryexperience and have worked on projects for TV and film, as well as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal ShakespeareCompany and the Scottish Opera.
