PART A SET A: (A1) Industrial Sociology is concerned with the application or development of principles of sociology relevant to industrial mode of production and industrial way of life. In Industrial Sociology social relations specifically concerned with industry are studied by employing scientific techniques. The social relations that are studied in industrial sociology are Internal Relations and External Relations. Internal Relations are further divided into formal informal and mixed relations. (A2) The similarity between sociology and psychology is as follows: (200words) (2.5+2.5=5marks) - Psychology deals with mental processes where as sociology studies social processes that is why sociology has to rely upon psychology to understand the group behavior. -Psychology has to rely upon sociology as human behavior is governed by norms, culture and values of the society. The difference between sociology and psychology is as follows: -sociology studies social process whereas psychology studies mental process - sociology studies group behaviour whereas psychology studies individual behavior -scope of sociology is wider whereas scope of psychology is narrow SET D: (A1) French Revolution was led by the non privileged masses against the feudal privileges and rights. It changed the political structure of European society from feudalism to democracy and rejected the long – standing practices where status was determined by birth. It marked the beginning of decline of the power of church and its alliance with monarchy and floated the idea that church and state should be kept separate. These changes led to the development of Sociology. ‐Both Industrial Sociology and Anthropology supplement each other; Whereas Industrial Sociology studies industrial social relations in industrial organization, Anthropology considers the impact of culture on human behaviour in industrial organization. -Sociologists have to depend on Anthropology to understand the present day social phenomena from our knowledge of the past which is often provided by Anthropology. -Sociology depends much on the material supplied by Anthropology. Historical part of sociology is identical with cultural Anthropology. Sociology has to depend on Anthropology to understand the present day social phenomena from our knowledge of the past. In the same way some of the conclusion drawn by Sociologists have also helped the Anthropology. (200words) (5marks)

(A2) Weber in his research concluded that -there exists relationship between religious values and economic development -he observed that Protestants particularly of Calvinist sect owned most of the industries -protestant ethic provided religious sanction that fostered a spirit of rigorous discipline, encouraging men to apply rationality in their work -Calvinism developed a set of belief around the concept of predestination -For protestant ethic work contributes to the glory of God and therefore less holidays in Calvinist Calendar. (200words) (5marks) PART- B (A.3) the relevance of Industrial Sociology in understanding the present day industrial society are as follows:-

-It provides remedies to the problem of industrial society. -It provides stability to industrial society.

-It helps in personality integration. -It provides aid to familial integration. -It helps in industrial planning. -It helps in promoting peace and prosperity.

(b) Difference between General Sociology and Industrial Sociology is as follows:-

‐The scope of general sociology is wider. -Industrial Sociology studies only work organization and Sociology studies society as a whole. -In Industrial Sociology we study only Industrial Relations and in Sociology we study general relations. -Industrial Sociology is the applied Science and sociology is a theoretical science. -In Industrial Sociology we study problem related with industry and in sociology we study problems of society in general. (A.5) The demerits of Bureaucracy are as follows:- -Position and responsibilities in the organization can lead to officious bureaucratic behaviour. There may also be a tendency to conceal administrative procedures from outsiders. -Impersonal relations can lead to stereotyped behavior and a lack of responsiveness to individual incidents or problems. -Bureaucratic organizations put an end to the creativity of the workers due to overspecialization and strictness in following of rules and regulations. -Bureaucratic organizations are static and rigid .It ignores external conditions and makes no allowances for adapting to changes in the environment. SET C: (A1) The problems encountered by small scale industries are:- Problem of skilled manpower, Inadequate credit assistance, Irregular supply of raw material, Absence of organized marketing, Lack of machinery and equipment, Absence of adequate infrastructure, Competition from large-scale units and imported articles, project planning, managerial inadequacies, old and orthodox designs. Due to all these problems the development of small-scale industries could not reach a prestigious stage. The government of India has taken protective, promotional and institutional measures to tackle these problems of small scale industries. Protective measures intend to protect the small scale industries from competition by large industries. Promotional measures aim at promotion of small industries and the government has set up following institutions, i.e.SIDO, NSIC, KVIC, SIDF, SIDBI, DIC for the benefit of small scale industries. In Industrial Sociology social relations specifically concerned with industry are studied by employing scientific techniques. This period was marked by remarkable changes in philosophical thought that is why this period is also known as Enlightenment Period. -Humans should be able to use reasons to govern themselves as individuals and in their relations to others. - Society and its governance should be based on the principles of reasons rather on non-rational forces represented by religion, myth and tradition. -People can understand and control universe by means of reasons and experimentation. Just as natural world is dominated by natural laws social world is dominated by social laws which could be discovered by systematic study. - Once social world is understood it could be possible to establish more rational social world.
