Connecting the Site Maintenance Terminal System to the BTS
Connection of Site Maintenance Terminal System to the BTS is
through a crossover cable.
Steps:
Connect one end of the cable to the MMI port on the DTMU.
Connect the other end of the cable to the network port of the Site
Maintenance Terminal System (your PC)

Starting the Site Maintenance Terminal System
Before starting the Site Maintenance Terminal System, set the IP
address and subnet mask for it, and ensure that the IP address is
in one network segment with the IP address of the BTS
(129.12.15.15).

Starting the Site Maintenance Terminal System
Step 1 Choose Start > Programs > Huawei GSM-OMC > SITE
Maintenance Terminal System
Step 2 If the communication between your computer and the BTS is
established, the Site Maintenance Terminal System window is
displayed
Step 3 The Set Communication Port Parameter dialog box is
displayed

Starting the Site Maintenance Terminal System
Step 4 In the Select Communication Port list box, choose Network
Port.
In the Configure IP list box, set the IP address of the DTMU to
129.12.15.15 (default IP address).
Click OK. The Site Maintenance Terminal System window is
displayed
It means that the Site Maintenance Terminal System starts
successfully

Choose User > Login.

Note: board number of DTMU is null
Board No. The number of the board whose software is to be activated
For a single board, it is the number of the board, such as 0 and 1.
For multiple boards, it is the number of the first board and the
last board, with a hyphen between them, for example, 0–5.

Site reset hierarchially
Third level reset :
The BTS is reinitiated. BTS configuration data is loaded, but the
program is not loaded.
Fourth level reset:
Reset the BTS hardware. Load data. Load program from the flash
memory.
Reset port:
Ring network Port 0 is forward link, and port 1 is reverse link.
Non-ring network Not selected.

BT loop test
BIU loop test tests if the RSL on the data bus (DBUS) is
normal.
TRX self-test tests the TRXs and reports the test result.

TRX RF self-loop test
This test is used to test the receive and transmit performance on
the air interface.
BIU loop test
The DTMU provides a path for the TRX to implement loop test. This
test is used to test the performance of the DBUS.
BTS sound loop test
This test is used to test the connection of the TRX speech channel
between the air interface and the DBUS.
TRX sound loop test
This test is used to test the connection of the TRX speech channel
between the air interface and the Digital Signal Processor
(DSP).
