Configuration on the BTS side.1. Check the 485 resistance.

Check the output of PCB version:REV2/REV3/REVC/REVD means CPRI 3.0 which

has no 485 resistance, while REV0/REV1/REVA/REVB means CPRI 2.0 which has 485

    resistance.

If the BBU does not have the 485 resistance, it can not support environment

    monitoring.

Configuration on the BTS side.3. Check the communication between environment monitoring device and BTS.

If the result returned shows the version of EMU, it means that the communication

between EMU and BTS is OK.

If this command fails to execute, it indicates that the connection between EMU and

BTS is abnormal or the communication dip switches are not set correctly.

This command can work only after the EMU device is added and will be used to

    BTS Automatically Detecting

    Basic knowledge about DHCP:

BTS automatically detecting is realized by the DHCP configuration tool which is integrated in

    the M2000 server.

Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) is used to provide IP address to hosts on a

TCP/IP network and adopts the Client/Server structure.

DHCP server: manages the IP addresses and other attribute parameters, and handles the

DHCP requests on the DHCP client. In M2000 application scenarios. The DHCP server and M2000

server can be deployed on the same physical entity.

DHCP client: sends the DHCP requests and uses the configuration information distributed from

the server. In M2000 application scenarios, the DHCP client often refers to the BTS.

DHCP relay: provides transparent transmission function for the DHCP messages. The DHCP

relay enables the DHCP client to communicate with the DHCP server that is not on the same

network segment as that of the DHCP client to obtain the DHCP configuration information.

    BTS Automatically Detecting

Step1: Log into DHCP server to plan IP with DHCP configuration tool.

The DHCP configuration tool provides a user-friendly geographic interface to facilitate your

maintenance over DHCP information for NEs.

The DHCP server should be configured with correct parameters before the BTS starts.

Execute the client\bin\dhcpConfigTool.bat in the M2000 installation directory to open it.

    BTS Automatically Detecting

Step2: Configure the BTS IP in batches or one by one. Parameters for adding or modifying a BTS information.

    Parameter Description

BWA ID The number of the BTS. The value ranges from 0 to 65535.

BWA Name The name of the BTS.

BWA ESN The 20-digit ESN of the BTS mainboard.

ASN-GW IP The IP address of the ASN-GW (ie. SPU IP).

BWA IP The IP address of the BTS.

BWA IP mask The mask of the sub-network where the BTS is located.

BWA Next IP Address Based on the different network topology, enter the IP addresses of differententities:

BTS cascaded network topology: the IP address of the upper-layer BTS.

Two-layer network topology: the IP address is 0.0.0.0.

Three-layer network topology: the IP address of the three-layer network

device at the NE side (based on the R6 transmission networking).

M2000 IP After the BTS is power on, use M2000 IP to ping the IP address of theM2000.

    BTS Automatically Detecting

Step4: Configuration on the BTS side. After BBU is power off and then restarted, DHCP client configuration will be

automatically finished. And we can check it with the following commands:

Check the ACT indicator on the panel of the BBU. If it is on, it means the link between

BTS3703 and the M2000 is normal. If it blinks at 4 Hz, it means the link between the

BTS3703 and the M2000 is abnormal.

The SNMP channel between M2000 and BTS should be configured.

Step5: DHCP service switch on or off at the client. If we hope that the BBU IP will not change after rebooting, DHCP service can be

    switched off.

The following commands are used for DHCP service switch on or off.

    [himax] display dhcp-switch

    [himax] set dhcp-switch off

    Software Upgrading in Batches

Software upgrading in batches can be realized by CME tool or M2000.

For more information, please refer to the upgrade guide.

    1. Upgrading from V2R1C03B040 to V2R1C04, it is recommended to use CME tool.

Upgrading configuration file, software and extend BIOS of BBU and RRU in batches.
