When I was growing up in Africa, a phone was considered a real luxury. Even if you had a phone, the networks were pretty unreliable. And often, the person you wanted to reach wasn’t connected either.

Today, Africa has over 650 million mobile phone subscribers and the communications industry has created more than five million jobs since 2014, contributing to over 7% of Africa’s total GDP – significantly higher than the global average.

We feel incredibly privileged to have been operating as a company in a time of such incredible growth for the African communications industry. Privileged because it is growth that ties in perfectly with the belief at the core of our business; that every individual on the continent has the right to be connected so that the power of technology can create better and brighter lives for everyone.

So far, the pursuit of this vision has seen us build the largest single independent network in Africa – and we have no intention of stopping with providing the continent’s best infrastructure. Our next step towards building Africa’s digital future is powering the migration to a truly African Cloud.

This is a significant step forward using the network we have built to bring cloud products and services to more of Africa, on our own, and in partnership with brands of the calibre of Microsoft.

We believe it’s a step change that will bring significant business, educational and social benefits to Africa. And because we are an African company, that is something we believe in more passionately than anything else.

Connecting more of Africa.

That vision was to connect as many people as possible in Africa and then use that connectivity to give many people across Africa as possible access to products and services that would improve their lives.

To achieve this, we embrace a uniquely African ‘can do’ attitude that is born of an unwavering belief in the ambition and potential of Africa, its businesses and its people. It is a way of thinking that we not only demand of ourselves, it is something we see in our customers too.

It is what has driven us to create an unrivalled single fibre network and chain of Data Centres across Africa that provide the perfect foundation for the growth of what has become the African Cloud.

The African Cloud that will delivers the most affordable and accessible business and communications technology to everyone – from the smallest communities to the biggest corporations.

We are a proudly African, privately-owned, independent company.

Africa’s Cloud is Liquid.

Long before we put our first fibre in the ground or linked to our first satellite, we created something far more important: A real vision for Liquid Telecom as a business.
