Expertise at a glance

Ichthys LNG Project (Australia)Client: JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd. (JKC)Description: In four years we have been awarded four separate contracts on the Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities project.

In 2013, we were awarded the underground electrical and instrumentation package for the onshore LNG facilities with Leighton Contractors establishing our presence on site leading to the successful delivery of the temporary facilities’ telecommunication system and site-wide fibre network in May 2014.

In 2014, the UGL Kentz Joint Venture won the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) main construction package for the onshore facilities and gas processing plant.

In April 2014, we were selected to deliver the overall electrical and instrumentation (E&I) construction package for the two process trains and utilities.

Pluto LNG (Australia)Client: WoodsideDescription: Electrical and instrumentation, installation and testing work associated with the LNG train, fractionation unit, power generation, nitrogen removal unit, heated water and fuel gas units of the LNG plant.

The project is located on the Burrup Peninsula in Western Australia and will be developed across two sites - the storage and export site and the LNG processing site. The storage and loading site consists of LNG and condensate storage tanks along with the jetty. The LNG liquefaction train and gas turbines/power distribution facilities will be on the LNG processing site.

Canaport LNG (Canada)Client: CanaportDescription: SNC-Lavalin, as leader of a joint venture with Saipem, was awarded an EPC contract for a new one billion cubic feet per day LNG receiving and regasification terminal in Saint John, New Brunswick. The facility, the first constructed in Canada, includes three full containment LNG tanks, jetty topsides and unloading arms, and submerged combustion vaporizers (SCVs) and boil-off gas (BOG) compressors.

Gorgon Project (Barrow Island, Australia)Operator: Chevron Australia Pty Ltd. Description: In conjunction with our partners Thiess and Decmil (TDKJV) in 2014 we completed the engineering, procurement and construction of a cyclone rated construction village to accommodate 3,300 workers.

In succession, our EPC business was also awarded the mian Telecommunications and Electronic (T&E) Systems EPC Contract which included design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning services.

The final scope of work awarded for the mechanical, electrical and instrumentation construction package with our joint venture partner. The contract scope included the structural, mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation and commissioning support for the construction of three 5 million tonne per annum LNG trains, including associated utilities and a domestic gas processing and compression plant.

Queensland Curtis LNG Project (Australia)Client: QGC (a BG Group Business)Description: We were awarded the integrated commissioning services contract on the Queensland Curtis (QCLNG) project in Queensland, Australia in March 2012. The contract was for an initial 12 month period, which has since extended to March 2016.

Our scope was in the support of the first phase construction of two processing trains with an output of 8.5 mtpa of LNG. It included the provision of multi-discipline commissioning and start-up services for the upstream facilities for 1,200 well sites, 19 field compression stations, four central gas processing plants and 380 km of pipeline supplying the LNG liquefaction plant. The team peaked at 250 personnel and has completed 40 months on the project without incurring a recordable injury.
