Well, that went fast!!! The 18-19 school year has come and gone, just like that. It seems like just a
short time ago we were welcoming a new group of 6th graders and now we are preparing to say
good bye to our 8th graders. Our students have come a long way over the course of this school
year and we are very proud of all of their academic and behavioral progress.
Spring is the season of testing and our students worked extremely hard. We had NWEA testing,
M-Step as well as our finals, all over the past couple months. Students (and staff) took all of this
testing in stride, and really put forth great effort.
As summer approaches, we want to make sure that students and parents all have their Moby Max
usernames and passwords, so that they are able to access this online tool over the summer. Even
logging in for a short time each day will help students to retain and build upon their individual
skills. Please contact your student’s caseload teacher if you need your student’s username and password.
I want to thank our amazing staff for volunteering their time to host another wonderful family ac-
tivity night on May 29 as well as thank the families that participated. We had a great turn out. It is
always a pleasure to spend time getting to know our students and their families in a relaxed, fun-
filled atmosphere. The weather was great and so was the food. We look forward to continuing
these events next year.
We wish you and your families a very happy, healthy, relaxing and safe summer. We appreciate
all of your support for your students and our program this school year. We wish our exiting 8th
grade students the best of luck in their journey to high school and are looking forward to the re-
turn of our 6th and 7th grade students in the fall.

BULLDOGS
It is hard to believe that this school year is coming to an end and I am finishing up my second year as Program Associate. We had some successes and some challenges, yet we continued the work that had to be done to ensure the safety and ed-ucational needs of our students. I’m proud of the work the teachers, support staff and students have accomplished to help students progress with behavior and academic goals. Thank you to the PBIS committees for sponsoring field trips and a va-riety other incentives.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish those students and families leaving us this year all the best in their new schools. I enjoyed working with all of the students and their families.
Have a wonderful summer and be safe! Don’t forget the sunscreen!

graders have been supportive of one another in the classroom and school wide. They are leaders, mentors, hard-working students, and caring individuals. Hands on Friday Marketing class has had a fun year with our students earning money and spending their money at the Bus Stop and School Store.
A special thank you to the parents and guardians for your support, time, and participation in your students education and overall growth. It has been an honor to work with you! Best wishes for a safe and happy summer!

In Math
Room 102 is finishing the year out strong!
we are focusing on wrapping up our Geometry unit.
Arts, we are working on editing our writing and a story.
We are working on our end of the year projects in Science and Social Studies.
In Science, we are conducting experiments that show chemical and physical changes and presenting our work to the class.
In Social Studies we are creating a brochure on a particular area that we have studied and demonstrating knowledge of the 5 Themes of Geography. For my Hands on Friday Community Service group, we have volunteered at American House and the Warren Community Center.
We are looking forward to our 6th
grade picnic at Dodge Park on June 12 to celebrate the end of the year!
Have a great summer!
In 103 it has been a very busy spring. We just finished our combined ELA, and Social Studies project by researching and developing PowerPoint presentations of the African country that each student selected. Everyone worked very hard, and learned a lot, not just about the country, but also about how PowerPoint works and the elements of doing a suc-
cessful presentation. They did a nice job of supporting each other’s efforts as well! We have finished algebra and are moving on to geom-etry in math, and in science we are continuing to learn about genetics, focusing on DNA and traits.
We continue to work on writing good sentences and paragraphs, and editing all of our own work.
As always, we are working on our own individual social emotional goals and being good students by following the 3R’s of Rockwell; Responsibility, Respect and Ready, and identifying ways we have all grown academically and socially this year.

Happy end of the year! Room 106 has been very busy this last quarter with
state testing, NWEA, and finals. The class has been working hard on most
days, however they are tuckered out from all the testing. Looking at indivi
dual growth your children on the whole made improvements in all areas, As
your seventh graders move on to eighth grade Room 106 staff wishes them well on their new
adventure.
My eighth graders have also been busy. We held their transition IEPT's at Neil Reid and also had the
tour of the high school. Some were nervous about the change, but interested in the electives they can
take next year. We also send our best wishes out to the new Freshman of 2019-2020!

This year has flown by! It is hard to believe that the end of the year is upon We have learned so much this year and have grown both
academically and socially, both as individuals and as classmates.
In Math we have wrapped up the last few units which included geometry, statistics, and
In Reading we continued to work on strategies to decode unknown words and constructing meaning from what we read. We continued to focus on informational texts and recalling information.
In the area of Language Arts, we wrapped up our unit on persuasive writing, focusing on correct spelling and proper mechanics. We also focused on editing our writing with a peer and creating a final draft that is free of spelling and punctuation errors.
In Social Studies we have travelled the Western Hemisphere, focusing on the 5 themes of geography in each place we visited (United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Central America).
We continue to focus on working together as a group, creating a positive learning environment and solving problems in an appropriate fashion.
Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing our 6th graders transition in to 7th grade!

teacher here, I have enjoyed every moment with them.
This year has flown by in room 110. The students are excited and anxious that this year is almost coming to an end. Although so many changes have occurred in room 110, we
have seen so much growth and are so proud of what they’ve accomplished. As a second year They’ve taught me, Ms. Tammy and Ms. Nan-
cy so much and we hope they’ve learned just as much from us. These last few months of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade are important. We need to continue to help support, guide and educate them towards success!.
In math, we worked hard improving our math fluency and reflecting on our growth. Keeping track of their growth keeps them motivated to stay on task and work hard towards their academic goals. In language arts, we have spent a lot of time on informational texts and the writing process. We en-joyed reading various novels and facilitation of discussions with one another.
A lot is going on in science and social studies. In social studies our group enjoyed watching videos on the Boston Tea Party, the Constitution and much more.
In Science, we focused on plate tectonics, the process of sea floor spreading, and much more.
Each day room 110 focuses on team building skills. Our group loves arts and crafts, cooking, playing with Legos and trains, computer games, and listening to music. This group was very diverse but truly one of a kind! Seeing them come together and work together has been a wonderful experience. Keep up the good work 110!
For those of you moving on to high school, you will be truly missed. For those of you staying in 110, we look forward to an-other great year!
Room 110 moto: Everyday isn’t perfect but we strive to try our best and that’s what counts.
Have a great and safe summer! - Room 110
The end of the year is here and the students in room 119 have made vast improve-ments in behavior and academics throughout this school year! We are so proud of them
and will miss them very much this summer.
In social studies, our class has learned about different aspects of Africa, including their culture, geogra-
In science we have focused on cells and how mutations affect genetics. In math we have been focusing on variables and the distributive property.
In ELA we have been focusing on the conventions of writing and using PowerPoint.
A lot of learning has taken place in room 119 and it was a blast. We enjoyed celebrating achievements, try-ing different calming techniques and singing and dancing as a class. As a class, we’ve focused on talking to one other and accepting our differences, expressing our feelings and making the problems better. Hopefully the students take everything they’ve learned this year and positively implement it in their future decisions.
Have a great summer and thanks for a great year!

In room 120, we are working towards our 80% in class and on task in order to go see a movie!
Academically, 120 is working on our geometry in Math. We are wrapping up the year learning about area, perimeter, and circumference.
Our Personal adjustment now takes place in Woods during the 4th quarter. We have made some incredible projects in Woods. All students completed their pinewood derby cars and may have moved on to other projects.
During Reading, room 120 has completed two novels this school ear! Great job 120!!!
In Langue Arts, we are strengthening our writing skills by editing and revising our persuasive essays.
We are excited for our end of the year projects in both Social Studies and Science. In Social studies we are showing what we have learned all year with our “Five Themes of Geography” project.
In Science, 120 students are excited to show what they have learned about Chemical and Physical changes by demonstrating each in their end of the year projects.
We have made many great strides as students here at Rockwell. The beginning of middle school can be a very anxious, challenging, and scary time for new students. Room 120 students have embraced these challenges with a zealousness that is inspiring.
Students have learned to adjust to new surroundings, increased academic demands, schedules, peers, and staff. Some ways students can continue to succeed throughout the summer is by utilizing Study Island. Students can also read at least 20 minutes daily, and ensure they are getting enough play and sleep throughout the summer. We are proud of our success and look forward to seeing this growth and success continue throughout the summer.

It has been a busy Spring in room 122, as we wrap up the school year and prepare to start high school. Students worked hard and showed growth on their spring test-
year learning about scatter plots and will spend the last few weeks review-ing algebraic concepts in preparation for algebra next year. We just finished the novel Ghosts of Spirt Bear by Ben Mikaelsen. Students enjoyed reading about the further adventures of the characters from the first book and the themes and ideas fostered great conversation.
Students continue to move along in Science and Social Studies, learning about weather and the Civil War.
The nervous excitement to start high school continues to grow, as we push to the end of the year, we look forward to the events that will end the year and to a restful summer.

Gym class is wrapping the year up! The students just got done with the
baseball unit and turns out we had some big league sluggers out there
on the Rockwell filed.
Students also finished up the last of their Fitness Gram tests and all the
students improved tremendously throughout the year in all aspects of
fitness. It was a lot of fun for my first year teaching the gym class and I
appreciated all the great effort given by the students!
The end of the year, will be filled with a review of all the sports played as well as health classes.
I hope everyone has a great summer and can’t wait to see
the growth of the returning 6th and 7th graders!

Summer is ALMOST here!!
It has been a great year and I hope everyone enjoys their summer break!
For the 8th to be 9th grades – GOOD luck!! High school is your job for the next four years – earn those credits and get ready for the world!
7th to be 8th – you will begin the last year of middle school – be a mentor to those around you while going out strong, academically and behaviorally!
6th to be 7th – reach out to those starting as 6th graders next year – help them become middle schoolers – Remember, that was you a year ago!
I am very happy to say we have FULLY integrated SIX students back to their local schools this year! A large part of that is due to the Integration room team: Mrs. Primavera, Ms. Nancy, and Ms. Tammy, who worked with all of those students in the classroom, helping them manage their class work/work from their locals, as well as keeping them on track. Great Job Team!
I look forward to working with more students next year toward that goal.
If you have any questions about your student becoming integrated, please contact their homeroom teacher, who will then reach out to me.
See you soon!

Boy’s Group (Mr. Krsteski- School Social Worker)
This particular group of boys began meeting regularly since the start of 2nd semester. This group of 3-4 eighth
grade peers met to discuss the mixed feelings of transition planning into the high school setting. We meet on a
weekly basis and students had the opportunity to discuss some of their curiosity and concerns. During this
instructional period we were able to highlight what expected behavior looks like in both middle and high
school settings. One of the highlights we had this 2nd semester was celebrating the successful integration of
one of our students back to his local district. The student peers serve as role models, not only to the students
in our group, but also as peer mentors for all of our students at Rockwell Middle School. Boy’s group will con-
tinue next year with the focus on cross grade peer to peer mentoring to help support our 6th grade students
with their transition into middle school.

Student council students were busy planning the school wide activities of Paper Roll Mania in March and Read-a-Thon and
Spring Bingo in April. All of the students had fun in these organized activities and enjoyed being together during these social
events.
Thank you to all the students and their families who donated empty paper rolls. Room 107, Ms. Mozurkewich and Room 101,
Ms. Coleman, won a classroom pizza party for the most donated empty paper rolls. Some of the designs classrooms created
include a chair, a train, a log cabin, and a rake made out of empty paper rolls.
As the year comes to an end, we will have an end -of - the-year student council field trip to American Pie restaurant to thank
our student council students for their help and support with planning school activities throughout the school year.

Girls group continues to meet weekly to work on empowerment and social etiquette skills. The girls have done a nice job working together on group activities and, they have enjoyed each other’s company throughout the school year. Recently, some of the Girls sang “Fight” by Rachel Platten in the Rockwell Talent Show. The girls had fun preparing for the show and doing their hair and make-up. Ms. Cheryl found matching clothes and hair accessories to add the final touch to their performance. Lastly, the girls put together a student/staff fundraiser luncheon to help raise money for their special end of the year field trip to Partridge Creek mall. A big thank you goes out to all of the Rockwell girls for working together to make this school year a successful one. Have a great summer!
