Guest Speaker

Sun Connect

Our Club Services Director Dale Chaplin

Introduced Sun Connect which is a 100%

Australian company which leads the way

in Solar energy and products.

Sun Connect is a private company which is

doing its best to help the environment by

helping Australians into clean green en-

ergy. They firmly believe in what they are

doing and the benefits that it has for our

planet.

The government will pay for people to put

solar panels on their roof. It is an obvious

way to generate power that until just re-

cently has been very much under utilized.

Australia is a very long way behind the

rest of the world in the take up and adop-

tion of solar energy.

Australians per capita are amongst the

worst polluters in the world.

Traditional methods of generating power

means that they produce tones of pollu-

tion for the power that is generated. Just

because we cannot see pollution does not

mean we are not producing any. Solar

power has been around for decades but

has been under utilized because it was not

cost effective. Australia traditionally has

had the cheapest prices in the world for

power, but this is beginning to change.

Solar is the most plentiful source of en-

ergy. Scotland has 5 times the amount of

solar power then Australia. Germany has

100 times more. You could possibly switch

to solar at a very minimal or no cost if eli-

gible.

The federal government will give you

$6000 up front. The state government

have indicated that they will pay you a

premium for any power that you generate.

Your power company will pay you via

savings on your bill and being able to buy

back any excess electricity that you may

generate. From July 2011 you may have to

have your house energy rated by man-

date. This may require you to make

improvements before you can sell your

home (similar to RCD switches / smoke

alarms currently). You may be eligible for

up to 100% of solar panels that you fit on

your roof being reimbursed by the State

and Federal governments.

Exchange Student Magali

Magali advised that on her school holidays that

she went down to Busselton with Shane Cross

and his family. She went to the beach and got a

little bit sunburnt. They also visited the cheese

and chocolate factory. Magalis passion for

cheese is very well known in this club. Magali

then went to Corrigin to catch up with her old

friends from this area. She then had a friend

sleep over at Clint’s home. It was her 17th

birthday yesterday and she has also done some

shopping.

Craig Jamieson

Karen Barry made a presentation to Magali

(our exchange student) and gave her a gift

on the clubs behalf. She advised that Magali

was thought of by many at this club as their

own daughter.

There was a birthday cake made for Magali

and all members of both clubs feasted upon

the cake.
