Many thanks to all who contributed to our Summer Mission and/or supported the service week with your pray

A huge thank you is extended to our fantasticTEAM : Mike Bellair, Ron Jones, Bill and Maria Lareau, Dan-

ielle Massey, Dave and Kim Oldham, Bob and Kathie Salek, Amanda Sass, Barb and Leroy Steffes , and Sr.

Joanne Vallero, CSJ, and Joan Williams. Their week was a very effective and productive one and they look for-

ward to sharing their experiences and stories.

A lot of progress was made beginning construction of the home for Tina White and her four boys, the oldest of

whom is 16 and wheelchair bound. The plans for this house are ADA approved and will include wider doorways

ramped entrance, and other features allowing accessibility. The crew completed the framing of all the walls. The

whole White family, cousins and neighbors in this new Habitat community volunteered side by side. At the clos

ceremony/blessing that took place on our last day, Lodavarius, the 16 yr. old, was present along with the rest of h

family and all the workers. He couldnt hold back the tears when he saw the ramp and the progress that had bee

made on their new home---neither could many of the rest of us. Tina often expressed her gratitude; she said she

found it hard to believe that such good people who did not know her came such a distance to work to help build

house for her family. Praise God!

Some finishing work was also done on the house next door that was begun last summer. Our crew also worked

hard on maintenance at the Volunteer House: yard work, spreading gravel around the perimeter of the house, re-

pairs and renovating the storage shed. Also, some of our group helped a Habitat home owner with plumbing rep

and assisted in home repairs for another. Every day two members of the group worked mornings at the Care Sta-tion that provides meals for hundreds of Clarksdales needy residents. Sr. Manette, CSJ, was overwhelmed with

your generous contributions for the Childrens Clinic and its patients and families. She extends her gratitude an

prayer to all who gave supplies, clothing, books and other goods for this purpose.

There were wonderful opportunities to interact, pray and worship with the Habitat families and with the local

community. We also had a good time in Memphis and Tutwiler on a few hours break mid-week and enjoyed a

pot luck church supper Friday night. We enjoyed visits with Habitat families in the neighborhood with whom o

groups have worked in previous years. Mrs. Stewart shared her garden produce with us as well as Sr. Manette!

What a delight it is to see their pride and joy in owning and maintaining their homes!

Continue your prayer for the Habitat families and volunteers, and for the presence of Gods love, justice, courage

and understanding to be brought to bear on the Habitat effort in the Delta. We can already look forward to next
