April outing

The outing for April is a Nova Lake Macquarie Cruise:

Includes a 2 ½ hour cruise and luncheon.

Date: Monday 15th April

Cost: $54.00

Departs: From Booragul Wharf. Boarding at 11.45 a.m. SHARP

Included: A barbecue lunch on board

Final Payment in full must be paid TODAY

May outing

The outing for May is a Day in the Hunter Valley.

Date: Monday 20th

May

Cost: $65.00, which includes:

Travel: by coach, wine tasting at two wineries, a visit to a chocolate place, as

well as:

Lunch at Harrington’s, and morning tea en route

The bus will depart VBC at 8.30 a.m., returning around 4.30 p.m.

Laurel George and Janina Sulikowski are members of Sing Australia Belmont. On Saturday 13 April the

Belmont group are hosting a Regional Gathering. They will be joined by the Wallsend, Maitland and Gosford

groups.

This will be a fun-filled afternoon of singing and a sumptuous afternoon tea. Cost $10.

On that afternoon 105 Sing Australia groups across Australia will gather in 32 Regional Gatherings so it will be

a momentous occasion.

Sing Australia was started by Colin Slater OAM CF in Canberra in 1985 and expanded across Australia in 1998.

The largest group is in Glenelg in SA with 149 members. Belmont is moving towards 80 with new members

attending each week. Your support would be appreciated.

submitted by Lynne Ward. Sam has spent about

20% of his life with Lynne and John since he was a

few weeks old. He is now an “old man” of 12 years.

His life is filled with the joy of eating, sleeping and

walking down to a coffee shop in Warners Bay!

April is the month for ANZAC Day, so here is a timely recipe from Lynne Ward

Meeting Times

needs to be recorded, for not only our records, but for

insurance requirements.

Gentle Reminder

Fees are due this month:

$30.00 for Probus annual payment, and

$10.00 for Valentine Bowling Club

subscription. Your club membership is current

until April 30th

. Please let Pat Butterworth know

when you are financial for 2019.

Ingredients

1 cup plain flour

1 cup shredded coconut

1 ½ cups rolled oats

¼ cup raw sugar

125g butter

60 mls golden syrup

½ tsp bicarb soda

1 tbsp. boiling water

1 cup raisins

1 cup chopped uncrystallised ginger

½ cup chopped dates

Method

Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Line 2 baking trays with baking paper.

Combine all dry ingredients.

Combine the butter, syrup, bicarb and boiling

water in a medium saucepan and heat until

butter melts and mixture froths up.

Add frothed mixture to dry ingredients.

Roll into balls and place on the 2 trays

Press down on each ball to flatten slightly.

Bake for approximately 20 minutes.

Allow to cool completely.

Should last in the refrigerator for a week.
