Bulletin | Danfoss Turbocor Compressors Customer Notification B-CN-052-EN REV A 10/19/2016 SUBJECT: SMT Application and Documentation Update Purpose The purpose of this bulletin is to inform our customers of the newly released Service Monitoring Tools (SMT) software application. This new version of the SMT has been posted to the Danfoss Turbocor website. This version of the SMT is backwards compatible with all previous versions of BMCC compressor firmware and is fully compatible with the upcoming 4.0.1 BMCC firmware. SUBJECT: SMT Application and Documentation Update

Purpose

The purpose of this bulletin is to inform our customers of the newly released Service Monitoring Tools (SMT) software application. This new version of the SMT has been posted to the Danfoss Turbocor website. This version of the SMT is backwards compatible with all previous versions of BMCC compressor firmware and is fully compatible with the upcoming 4.0.1 BMCC firmware.

Summary

Background

This latest release contains several improvements and resolved some defects which have been identified internally and by customers. Unlike the complementary BMCC firmware release of 4.0.1, this SMT release maintains full backwards compatibility with all legacy features in previous firmware releases. Many of the improvements were included in this release not only to support new features added in 4.0.1 but also to improve the compatibility and usability with the legacy firmware.

OS Compatibility

This release was designed and tested to be compatible with all major Windows operating systems from Windows XP to Windows 10. Other operating systems such as Mac OS X, Android, and various Linux operating systems are not supported.

BMCC Firmware Compatibility

This SMT release was designed and tested to be compatible with the latest 4.0.1 firmware and all major legacy firmware releases. The following firmware releases were functionally tested:

• 4.0.1 • 3.1.4 • 3.0.0 • 2.3.1218 • 2.2.1197 • 2.2.929 • 1.3.917

Specific Changes

New models and faults with 4.0.X BMCC firmware were added. Other faults that did not properly display in the Active Alarms and Faults Viewer were fixed, such as SCR Phase Loss. A reset faults button was added to make use of the new feature in the 4.0.X firmware. The Commissioning Tool and the associated report were improved as well. In particular, fault limits can now be configured in the commissioning tool and will be saved to the commissioning file.

Other changes were made to improve the overall user experience. The Data Recording and Playback Tool were improved to allow users to break files up and to save as CSV. A warning message was added prior to saving a new bearing calibration to remind users that the previous bearing calibration will be overwritten. The Fault Limit controls in the BMCC System Configuration Tool was moved to the Alarm and Fault Settings Tool. The Analog Output Controller was updated in the Chiller & Analog Configuration Tool. Much of the fault/warning/mask and the associated event text are confusing or incorrect.

All fault/warning/mask and associated event text have been updated.

Add Configuration parameter to view Alarm and Fault for Inverter, SCR and Cavity temperature at start-up.

Firmware 4.0.0 expanded the Inverter, SCR, and Cavity temperature alarm and fault feature to have different settings on startup.

SMT displays new startup alarm and fault limit parameters for firmware 4.0.0.

Active Alarm Fault Viewer

Add Soft Start temperature and Earth Leakage monitoring and fault to SMT.

Firmware 4.0.0 and new Soft Start design has temperature monitoring capability.

SMT displays the soft start temperature and earth Leakage fault for firmware 4.0.0.

Clarify and Simplify Excessive Orbit Bearing Status Faults

The SMT displays excessive number of bearing faults.

The SMT combined Radial X & Y faults in to one.

Bearing Calibration

Add extra step in 'Save Calibration to EEPROM’

Overriding the previous calibration data is potentially a dangerous process.

A warning message has been added prior to saving new calibration data.

BMCC System Configuration

Move Fault Limit controls in the BMCC System Configuration tool to the Alarm and Fault Settings tool.

Customers requested that fault limit parameters in the BMCC System Configuration be moved to Alarm and Fault Settings.
