Highly dynamic machine counterbalance — fast, safe and economical.

Counterbalance cylinders are used in modern manufacturing environments in order to accelerate process dynamics of vertical axes on tooling machines. In close cooperation with Technical University Darmstadt, Germany, as well as several reputed component suppliers, ROSS EUROPA® developed an innovative cylinder system which fully meets the requirements of this highly complex process chain. The system is remarkably fast, safe and economical and furnished proof of its high performance level by fulfilling all criteria of the Renishaw test.

In connection with highly dynamic linear motors, these cylinders are a technical must in the attempt to keep up with, or even reduce, processing times demanded in state-of-the-art manufacturing. ROSS EUROPA® offers a Hidyn version for very high speeds (up to 4 meters per second). The above mentioned product achievement is used globally, customers specifying the innovative ROSS® counterbalance cylinder system include prestigious car-makers worldwide.

• Design in accordance with following standards: – ISO 15552 – ISO 6022 (cylinders are usable up to 20 bar). The user has to make sure that the pressure equipment directive is observed.

Piston bottom: Sigh-feed system, dosage via a central lubrication unit.

Note: Lubrication intervals largely depend on cylinder load.

LubricationDue to the high dynamic demands, fast acceleration and high traverse speed, HSC counterbalance cylinders require specific lubrication.

Initial lubrication customarily used for standard-type pneumatic cylinders is not enough for the high demands HSC cylinders have to cope with.

Using the lubrication systems developed by ROSS® a cylinder performance of more than 160 000 km can be achieved. This corresponds to a service life of approximately 8 to 10 years.

The ROSS® Counterbalance Cylinder — A truly „customized“ solution.

From existing assemblies we develop the application-optimized counterbalance cylinder together with you. Every single model is given an unmistakable reference number, e.g. HSC-RESK 7018.80 — the last two digits defining how the cylinder is colored.

ROSS® has provided counterbalance cylinders for a number of applications, including the following areas: tooling machines, handling systems, presses, special cylinders for specific applications as well as heavy designs. Needless to say that the installation dimensions of ROSS® HSC cylinders are in full accordance with DIN ISO 15552 (6431) and ISO 6020/2 (light hydraulics standard).
