2

What is bullying?•Bullying is the physical and emotional hurt inflicted on people, most commonly schoolchildren, by others.

•Bullying can take place almost anywhere, and at any time.

•However, bullying usually occurs in school, where older or larger kids pick on smaller, and more junior children.

3

Who gets bullied• Children of all ages get bullied, but bullying occurs mostly amongst

teenagers.• Children who are smaller, weaker and younger.• Children who are more shy and timid in nature.• Children who do not stand up for themselves.• Children who are not so well liked by their peers.• Children who keep things to themselves and do not tell their parents

or teachers around them about the happenings in their lives.

4

Why do people get bullied• People get bullied mainly because they are smaller and weaker than

others around them.• They are not very well-liked by their classmates.• They are insulting or offend the bully or bullies.• They are envied for being liked by their teachers.

5

What bullies gain by Bullying• Some bullies traumatise other children in order to get more pocket

money.• Others do so to be “respected” and obeyed by those around them.• They can get others to do their homework for them.• They can taunt other kids, just for the sake of fun.

6

What happens after a bullying occurs-dealing with it

• Pull yourself together. It is no use crying over spilt milk.• Tell your parents- they can help comfort you.• Tell the teacher about the bully so that he or she will be punished.• Take preventive measures to prevent such things from happening

again.

7

How to prevent Bullying

• People all over world get bullied, this is because they do not know how to handle different situations.

• We can use multiple different methods to stop bullying from occurring.

•For example, you can pick up self-defence skills to protect yourself.

•Also, you can ask your teacher or parent to keep a close eye on the bully.

•Lastly, always hang around your friends and those you can trust. This way, you gain strength in numbers and deter bullies from coming your way.

8

Stand up for yourself!• Get the support of friends!• Look at the brighter side of things, at least you will be

more prepared the next time if it does occur again.• Tell your parents, friends and teachers about the bully or

bullies.• Just say “Stop!” when you think that they have gone too

far.

9

In the end…• You win. Either way the bullies will get dealt with as long as you

stand up for yourself.• Do not fret. Your friends and family will always be there to back you

up!

10

It’s a fish eat fish world. You either eat, or get eaten. Similarly, if bullies pick on you, they will get it from the teachers!
