Committed to exceptional design and quality, the Danish craftsman and designer Kjell Thomsen started to draw his first range of flueless bioethanol fireplaces in 2007. Today,Decoflameistheregisteredtrademarkforeco-friendly,contemporarybioethanolfireplaceswhichaddastylestatementtoanyinterior.

Theexclusiverangeofdecoflame®bioethanolfireplaceshasbeendesignedforthediscerningcustomerwhovaluestheoutstandingqualityandfunctionalityofDanishDesignandCraftsmanshipandthebenefitsofanenvironmentallyfriendlyproduct.

DesignedandproducedinDenmarkwithfocusonqualityandsafety,adecoflame®bioethanolfireplacecanbepositionedliterallyanywhere-withouttheneedforachimney,flueorbearingwall.

Since2007,inadditiontothestandardrangeoffireplaces,Decoflamehasrealisedasignificantnumberofmadetomeasurebioethanolfireplaceinstallations.Themajorityofthoseprojectswerecarriedoutinclosecooperationwitharchitectsandinteriordesignersonaninternationalscale,wheredecoflame®madetomeasurefirescanbefoundinrestaurants,hotels,offices,homesandpalaces.

Thesolid,technicallyprovenandtestedconstructionofadecoflame®fireplacewithitssafetychamberandstandarddecoflame®burner/sprovidethebestpossibleandeconomiccombustionofthebioethanolaswellaseasyandsafeoperation.

Thestandarddecoflame®built-inburnerhasaminimalistexternallook,however,itsintelligentlyengineereddesignallowsforeconomicfuelconsumptionwithalivelyflamedisplaywhichcanfillprettymuchalloftheopeningofthefireplace.Theflameintensityandthustheheatoutputofthestandarddecoflame®burnerissteplesslyadjustable.

Theuniquedecoflame®burnersystemallowsforaflamedisplaythatwillappeartobeacontinuous“fireribbon”fillingoutthefireplacealmostentirelyregardlessofhowmanyburnersareusedinanapplication.

Ventilation and room requirements

General information about bioethanolAlldecoflame®fireplacesarefuelledwithdenaturedbioethanolwhichisagreen,non-fossilfuelderivedfromsugarcane,beets,cerealsorevenhey.BioethanolcreatesonlyasmallamountofCO2andwatervapourwhenburning,whichmeansithasacleancombustionwithoutsmoke,smellandsootemission.

Aswithallalcohol-basedliquids,bioethanolchangesitsformfromliquidtogasataround17degreesC.Thegasisheavierthanairandwillthereforebesituatedinalayerontopoftheliquidsurface.

Unlikewoodorgasburningfireplaces,theflamebehaviourseeninbioethanolfireplacesisverymuchinfluencedbyairflowaroundtheburneranddraftconditionswhichprevailintheindividualsetting.Bothcanhaveanundesiredeffectonthecombustiontemperatureandthefuelconsumption.Supportingourcustomerswithourexpertiseandtechnicalknowledgeenablesthemtocreatenotonlyastunningfocalpointbutalsoaperfectlyfunctioningandsafetooperatebioethanolfireplace.

Consumption / Thermal output / Room size RecommendationAnyflameconsumesoxygen.Thisisalsotrueforbioethanolfires.Mosthousesorroomshaveanaturalsupplyof“freshair”(i.e.airwithahighercontentsofoxygenthantheairindoors)duetodraughtywindows,doorswhichopenwhensomeoneentersorleavestheroomoran“openplanliving”layout-combiningseveralroomsandmaybeevenfloors-providingsufficientsupplyofgoodqualityair.

Nonetheless,theroomsizeandvolumeshouldbeconsideredwhenplanningforabioethanolfireplace.Often,itisforgotten,thatindeed100%oftheheatgeneratedbyabioethanolfire(i.e.7.2kW/hperlitreburnt)remainindoorsasitdoesnotescapethroughachimneyorfluelikeitdoesincaseofawood-burningorgasfireplace.Intheend,an“oversized”fireplacemightbeanimpressivefocalpointindeed,butmightbeperceivedastoohot.
