Session 3: Improving Your Financials

You can’t successfully improve and grow your business without strong financial management. In this session we take a ‘business owner perspective’ (not that of an accountant) to look at compliance, cash flow, profitability and performance, financial controls, budgeting, financing, relationships with your accountant and bank, and valuing the business. A working example is used to demonstrate the principles and benefits of sound cash flow management.

Session 4: Having the Right People

Your staff represent a key resource in the business. Whoever attracts, retains and develops the best people has a competitive advantage. We cover issues such as the benefits of being an SME employee, your role as leader, the importance of culture, delegation, a performance/culture matrix, and the 5 primary reasons staff don’t perform. As an alternative to employing specialist staff we also discuss outsourcing. The session will also cover customer service with its many dimensions and the critical role of staff in this function.

Session 5: Lifting Your Turnover

We move our attention in this session to lifting the performance of the business (i.e. growing

the top line). A business owner perspective, rather than that of a marketing professional, is adopted. We look at the 6 drivers of turnover, the marketing mix (product, place price and promotion), digital marketing, measurement, getting expert advice, and developing a marketing plan.

Session 6: Your Business Plan

This session knits together and builds upon all of the above sessions to show the business owner how to develop a written structured internal business plan as a roadmap for improving and growing the business. It explains business planning, the value of it, how to do it, and finding the time to do it. Emphasis is placed on the business planning process so that business planning becomes imbedded in the business. A fully worked example is presented. During the session participants develop their own business plan for growth under the guidance of a business coach.

Session 1: Foundations for Growth

As the program is directed at business owners wanting to grow their business, we define growth, the various stages of growth for a business, and how the role of a leader changes throughout each stage. We then explore a range of issues relating to leadership including culture, your business model, getting advice, accountability, business networking and time management.

Session 2: Systemising Your Business

We show you how to map a business process step by step using a flow diagram. This allows you to assign responsibility and determine information requirements for each step. Sound processes and systems are the basis for continuous improvement, innovation and measurement. We discuss the requirements for successful project management, and conclude the session with how to deploy technology to improve performance and help grow your business.

Our Business Coaching program is valued at $1,600 incl. GST. A complimentary 12-month Business SA membership is included and additional 1:1 coaching sessions for each participant.
