Coder DojoWhat is a CoderDojo? CoderDojos are a global movement of open source, volunteer led coding clubs that are free for young people. AIM is excited to bring this unique opportunity to Mitchell! A CoderDojo session allows students to work creatively and at their own pace in developing skills in a programming language. It is not a class, there is no homework, and kids work under the guidance of volunteer mentors from education and industry. All sessions are free of charge, though space is limited — register early. The only rule of the CoderDojo is “be cool!” This means coming with an attitude ready to learn code and collaborate respectfully with one another. Participating youth are invited to bring their own laptops to the CoderDojo, though technology equipment is available for use. Parents must accompany kids under the age of 12 and are welcome to have fun exploring programming with their child or they may simply relax with a book or electronic device while their child is at work.Ages: 8 - 12Date: Second Thursday of every month throughout the schoolyear: Nov 12, Dec 10, Jan 14, Feb 11, Mar 10, and Apr 14Time: 3:45 - 5:45 p.m.Cost: FREE!Location: Inventive Media, 1210 Center Ave., Mitchell

The Adult Education, GED, and English Language Acquisition programs provide instruction that helps individuals acquire the academic skills necessary for employment or admission to college and occupational or training programs. Anyone over 18 years of age or older who is not enrolled in another school is eligible for enrollment. Please call 308.635.6769 regarding special enrollment requirements for 16- and 17-year-olds. Some students may wish to work on all the subjects necessary to take the GED tests and others may only need to improve skills, such as math or reading, to improve their employment opportunities.
