CAREER GOALS

In the long term I hope to combine my passions of sports marketing and graphic design in a strategic position for a professional sports team, ideally in the NFL. I hope to strengthen a team’s brand and its fan base around a united cause of success on and off the field.


My best experience at the UO so far has to be my two-week study abroad sports business program this past summer. We had access to many companies which students at other universities would not have been able to hear from including Nike Europe, Adidas World HQ, Lagardere Sports, Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, the German Olympic Committee and many more. In total, we travel to five cities in 14 days with plenty of free time to go out and explore local cultures and even do some hiking in the Bavarian Alps. I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in sports business.


Before I leave the UO I would like to attend a CrossFit class with Julia Smith.

GREATEST ROLE MODEL

My greatest role model has to be Russell Wilson, QB1 of the Seattle Seahawks. I am a little biased because I have been a Hawks fan my entire life, but through what I have observed following his career, the media and his own personal accounts, Russell is a man of extremely high character, positivity, charity and Christian faith. He and his wife Ciara go to the Seattle Children’s Hospital every Tuesday, and he is constantly upbeat even after a loss. I hope to emulate him as I go through trials in my professional career.


My favorite business class so far has been Marketing 311H. Our professor, Leah Schneider, was extremely energetic and passionate about marketing despite the 8:00 a.m. start time, and she brought out my passion for the subject through interesting lectures with real-world examples. Our final presentation was a competitive marketing presentation to the class, and going through that entire process brought my group very close together.

My biggest role model is my mom. She is so hardworking and always taught me that a woman can do it all.


My favorite business class was Steve’s Finance 316 class. Sadie would run the aux in the classroom and play music before class, and Steve was chill and always willing to answer our sometimes ridiculous questions.

I strive to be either on the operations or administration side of a large health care system as a practice director in primary care.


Studying global health abroad in Accra, Ghana was an experience that challenged me in the greatest ways possible. Not only did it instill my passion for health care on a global scale, but allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and welcome the unknown.

CAREER GOALS

Upon graduation in 2020, I hope to begin a marketing career in apparel and sportswear. I’d like to work on the creative side of advertising and promotions and be employed by a company that would support me in getting an MBA down the road.


As a freshman, I had the opportunity to travel to San Francisco with the American Marketing Association where we visited several agencies and firms. Forming friendships with older members while exploring the city was an awesome first-year experience, and since then we’ve gotten to go to Portland, Seattle, and Los Angeles as well.


I want to storm the field at Autzen.

Two role models of mine are Marcus Harvey of Portland Gear and the legendary Phil Knight of Nike. Both Portland-based alumni have both built monumental brands in the apparel world and their entrepreneurial mindsets have been a huge inspiration for me as a student.


BA 352 was my favorite class because I felt that the material was the most valuable toward real life, and because the group project was so difficult yet fun. Getting the chance to consult for a real company is something tangible that I wouldn’t have experienced without Honors. The life skills that the course taught will always stick with me.

I want to use my marketing degree to work for a company in an industry that I am passionate about. I would like to be on a motivated, driven team—similar to what I have experienced thus far in the Honors Program. Overall, I would like to have a fulfilling career that continues to challenge me while allowing me to grow and learn from role models in my field.


My best experience at the University of Oregon would have to be joining the Honors Program and choosing to work at the UO Rec Center. These two campus groups have introduced me to some lifelong friends, helped me grow as a student and employee, and has made Eugene feel like home.


Before leaving the University of Oregon I would like to go on as many new hikes and outdoor adventures as possible to see all Oregon has to offer.

My greatest role model is my dad because he has set a standard of work ethic that I aspire to maintain throughout my career. I see how many hours he puts in everyday and every week which has led him to where he is today in his career. My favorite business class has been our Marketing 311H class because it brought together my concentration of marketing along with a competition between teams to see who had the best idea. Being able to get creative and come up with a new product and market it was one of the most challenging, yet rewarding projects I have ever worked on.

My best experience at UO would have to be BA 352 with Nicole Wilson. I got to work with some of the most amazing people and learned so much about how to actually conduct myself on a team. There truly never was a dull moment.


I have yet to need to pull an all-nighter, so my main goal is to maintain that streak through graduation.

My very first boss at Wilson pool, Sarah Wiggins. She demonstrated to me how to be a great leader that fostered an environment where employees wanted to show up to work, yet still was able to ensure that the pool operated perfectly.


BA 352. Getting to work with my team on the Falling Sky project was one of the greatest learning experiences I could ever have and my team made it so incredibly fun.
