BUL 2241 BUSINESS LAW (3 CREDITS)

This course is designed to develop the student’s understanding of the law as a social force which directs and guides both business and the consumer. Major emphasis will be law as it pertains to torts, governmental regulation, consumer protection, contracts, negotiable instruments, secured transactions, bankruptcy, employment law, and other related topics.

VI. REQU I RE M EN T S FOR T HE S T UD E NT S :

1. GROUND COURSES – Students are required to sign into the CANVAS course shell to submit all written assignments.

2. COMPLETION OF ALL ASSIGNMENTS-- All assignments must be completed to pass the course. Skipping an assignment is not permissible. In other

words, there may be enough average to receive an “A” for the course, however if an assignment submission is missing an “I” will be given for the course until all work has been completed. The completion of the work will not add to the final grade at the end of the class. All assignments are defined as any submission required in the course for which a grade could be awarded or subtracted.

3. Accumulation of a minimum of 70% final grade and completion of all assignments for this course.4. Assignment due date and after requirements:

a. All assignments, discussions, group projects, presentations, exams, and final papers must be submitted bythe due date and time for the potential of a full grade.

b. Assignments up to 12 hours late will receive half the credit normally awarded that assignment had it been submitted by the original time due.

5. Assignments cannot be submitted after the 12 hour extension and will receive a zero. PLEASE DO NOT ASK FORAN ADDITIONAL EXTENSION. IT IS IMPORTANT ALL WORK SUBMITTED BE CHECKED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE WORK HAS INDEED BEEN POSTED IN THE CANVAS CLASSROOM FOR THAT MODULE’S ASSIGNMENT.

6. Written assignments for the weekly submission box are to be created as word documents in a doc or docx formatonly. (Google Docs are not permitted) They are to be submitted as a single attachment ONLY to the particular week’s assigned submission box. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP A COPY OF THE WORK SUBMITTED. (PLEASE NOTE COURSE SHELL FOR ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS)

7. PLEASE NOTE: Regarding Discussion Assignments for the classroom. The exchange of ideas between students regarding the assigned material is a key learning experience.

VII. A T T E N D A N C E PO L I C Y:

GROUND COURSE - This is a ground course requiring participation by signing into the course a minimum of four different days per week. Lack of participation will be noticed by lack of submission of assignments, discussions during the week, and attendance of class sessions. Should the need arise to miss a class session, the student must receive permission from the professor IN ADVANCE or the absence will not be excused.
