Celebrating our Second Anniversary in Gainesville!
Why should your business be a member of the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce? The answer is straightforward:
• To help build your business • To help build your community
It's as simple as that. There is no better organization, no better business group, no better civic organization to help build your business and this community we call home. The Transportation Investment Act allows voters in the Georgia Mountains region to provide funding for transportation projects over a 10-year period through a one percent sales tax. The TSPLOST Voter Referendum is July 31, 2012.
The Georgia Mountains region includes Banks, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, and White counties. All money raised in the region will stay in the region. With the passage of the TSPLOST,
Hall County and its municipalities will be better equipped with the transportation infrastructure to attract economic development and create jobs.
The regional projects, that will be supported by TSPLOST dollars, were developed by local elected officials and will be voted upon and supervised by the public. 75% of all funds raised in the region will be spent on regional projects, and 25% of all funds raised in the region will be returned directly to local jurisdictions. Hall County would receive a total of approximately $360 million – a $1.45 return for every $1 raised.
As Northeast Georgia's education, employment, tourism, and healthcare center, Gainesville-Hall County will be the recipient of the bulk of TSPLOST tax dollars. Funding from TSPLOST will offer us the opportunity to create jobs and maintain our quality of life while acquiring funding from those spending money on goods and services in Hall County.
Learn more about the TSPLOST Referendum and other local transportation proj-ects and activities at the Chamber's Annual Transportation Forum on Wednesday, March 14, 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Gainesville State College. Special Guest Speak-er is Todd Long, Georgia Department of Transportation Director of Planning, along with the introduction of Bayne Smith, the new GDOT District 1 Engineer. GDOT's District 1 is housed in Gainesville-Hall County and covers 21 counties in Northeast Georgia. Reservations: 770-532-6206 or online at greaterhallchamber.com

At Challenged Child & Friends they toured the campus and interacted with the children in the classrooms. The group traveled to Northeast Georgia Health System where they enjoyed a great lunch provided by the hospital and took a tour of the ER, Lab and Stribling Heart Center. After hearing about Laurelwood and participating in team building games, the group participated in a service project at the Humane Society. Many thanks to meal sponsors McDonald's and Northeast Georgia Health System.
