Business Pathway Teays Valley Local Schools _______________ _______________ ________________________________________________________ Pathway Course Descriptions Business Foundations (BF) - 1 year Acquire knowledge of business operations, business relationships, resource management, process management, leadership skills and financial principles. Students learn the building blocks of business & economics. Marketing Principles (MP) - 1 year Obtain fundamental knowledge in marketing communication, management, marketing research and merchandising. Acquire knowledge of marketing strategies, market identification techniques, employability skills and economic principles. Entrepreneurship (E) - 1 year Students will be exposed to the foundations, resources and support necessary to develop their own business. Understand the process of analyzing business opportunities, prepare a business plan, and determine feasibility of an idea. (CTAG Credit Eligible) Accounting (A) - 1 year Learn basic accounting principles and skills to seek entry-level employment and/or pursue advanced accounting degrees. Students will gain hands on experience using Quickbooks software. ________________________________________________________ Microsoft Office IT Academy 1 and 2 (MA) are semester courses offered to all students at TVHS. The Academy is separate from the pathway sequence, but is a perfect complement to the series of courses. Students participating in Teays Valley's Microsoft Academy have the option to take Microsoft Certification Exams in Word, Outlook, Access, Excel and Powerpoint. Students pursuing employment directly out of high school or pursuing advanced degrees can benefit from Microsoft Certifications on applications and resumes.     Students in the Business Pathway get real-world

    experience while operating the Teays Valley Spirit

    Shop. Students use Quickbooks to monitor and

    manage inventory, expenses and profits and apply

    the marketing and customer service skills they are

    learning in their classes.
