August 2019 Vol. 39 No. 4 Stopping Abortion Now — One Life at a Time But Planned Parenthood Increases its Killing Abortions Continue Downward Trend in Minnesota by Debra Braun Education Director The Minnesota Department of Health released its annual “Induced Abortions in Minnesota” report July 1, showing a continued overall downward trend in abortions in the state. However, Planned Parent- hood (PP) continues to increase its “market share” of the abortions in Minnesota. PP committed 6292 of the 9910 reported abortions in 2018 (more than 63%). The number of abortions in Minnesota has de- clined 48% since 1980, but PP’s total has increased 44% just since 2013. (PP moved into its new, large abortion facility on Vandalia St. in St. Paul in December 2011). This follows the national trend in abortion numbers and PP’s share of abortions. The recent fir- ing of the president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), Dr. Leana Wen (see page 2), confirms what pro-lifers have been say- ing for a long time, that PP is focusing its efforts more and more on abortion. (The July 16) announcement thatPlanned Parenthood fired their new pres-ident didn’t come as a surprise to closeobservers of this abortion conglomerate.

Leana Wen’s association with PlannedParenthood was doomed from the start.

From the beginning, several ques-tioned why a respected doctor from theBaltimore Department of Health wouldattach her name and reputation to thelargest chain of abortion centers inAmerica. Of course, we understood whyPlanned Parenthood chose her. Theywanted to hide behind the respectabilityof the medical profession by having thefirst medical doctor lead the organizationin over 50 years.

Wen’s motivation for taking the jobappeared to be evident in her writtenstatement after her termination. Sheexpressed a naïve goal to refocus theorganization on ensuring that abortion “isnot a political issue but a health careone…” Wen’s staff even orchestrated amedia campaign announcing her newtitle, emphasizing that abortion is health-care.

Planned Parenthood’s leadershipenjoyed the image a physician would por-tray, but it had no intention of changingcourse. Wen’s crime was that she had set

goals at odds with Planned Parenthood’schief mission — to wield raw politicalpower to ensure ongoing abortion ondemand throughout America.

Leana Wen had to go.To ensure a political focus, she will be

temporarily replaced by Alexis McGillJohnson, a political operative and formerboard member.

Wen learned of her dismissal shortlybefore a public announcement. Shetweeted that she had been fired after a“secret meeting,” and the powers that betook little time in demonizing its formerpresident.

A BuzzFeed article of the same daylaid the groundwork by quoting unnamedsources who criticized Wen of bringing inan entire “system of insanity,” disregard-ing board directives, and making factual-ly inaccurate statements. Not to be con-fused with Cecile Richard’s false (andsupported) statements that the organiza-tion provided mammograms.

If one doubts Planned Parenthood’sability to demonize it opponents, recallDavid Daleiden, whose undercovervideos revealed that the group sold bodyparts of aborted babies. Or KarenHandel, Susan G. Komen’s vice presi-dent for public policy, who resigned inthe aftermath of their decision to defundPlanned Parenthood and wrote a bookabout the experience entitled PlannedBullyhood. Earlier, when AT&T made asimilar decision, Planned Parenthoodaccused that company of “corporatecowardice.”

It’s easy to understand that PlannedParenthood’s board of directors wouldfeel frustrated by the numerous unfriend-

Minnesota pro-lifers joined in the National Pro-LifeBridges Day June 28 by holding pro-life banners across thefreeways in several locations during the afternoon rush hour. This was the second annual Bridges Day coordinated by thePro-Life Action League with participation across the country.Shown in this photo is the St. Paul site (pedestrian bridge overI-94 near Snelling Ave.).

Tens of thousands of commuters read our signs, manyresponding either positively or negatively. One sign said,“Abortion Ends a Human Life” and the other, “Abortion KillsChildren.” Keeping abortion in the public conversation is veryimportant to prevent the issue from being ignored and the children from being forgotten. We hope that lives were even saved by thispro-life witness! This is an ongoing project of Pro-Life Action Ministries. On the Front Lines“I'm Okay...”

by Michele HerzogCentral Florida Branch Manager

While ministering at the OWC abortu-ary on a recent Saturday, we noticed a carpull into the driveway with what ap-peared to be a mom and her daughter. When they pulled into the parking spacein the back of the building, they remainedin their vehicle for about ten minutes, talking.

Slowly, they opened the car doors, gotout, and began to walk up the drivewaytoward the front door. From the momentboth women stepped out of the vehicle, they heard offers of help and the truth ofabortion from sidewalk counselors. Theabortion bound daughter, who appearedto be pretty far along, was very cold andsarcastic, telling all of us that she was“okay.” We let her know that she was notokay going into a place like this that killslittle baby boys and girls, and that her sonor daughter’s life was in peril! We plead-ed with her to not go into that place ofdeath, but she ignored our pleas of helpand dashed around the corner up to thefront door.

The woman following behind her con-firmed to us that she was in fact hermother, and that her daughter had madeup her mind, and there was nothing moreshe could do! She was much softer thanher daughter, but acting very much like ascared puppy dog following behind. Weencouraged her to go inside and rescueher grandchild, to please try again! Shewent inside, with her head down, inabsolute fear!

Shortly after this, the mother came outand we encouraged her to come downand please talk with us, pleading with heronce again to try and get her daughter tocome out, and to try to be a rescuer to hergrandbaby. She began to tell us that shehad been trying all morning, but onceagain she told us that her daughter hadmade up her mind. We told her that if shehad exhausted every effort to stop herdaughter from doing this horrendouscrime, that she must leave or the blood ofher grandchild would be on her hands.

At this point she looked like she was

in turmoil, taking out her cell phone, call-ing someone, and then having a very seri-ous conversation. She then walked downto us while talking on the phone buttelling the man (she had him on loudspeaker) what we had told her. She thenput the phone towards us, encouraging usto tell him what we had told her.

We seized the opportunity and toldhim everything we had encouraged her todo, and the seriousness of this situation. We then asked her if she was a followerof Jesus, and she said yes, and we imme-diately told her that as a Christian she cannot take part in this unfruitful deed ofdarkness and this shedding of innocentblood, with the echos of the man on thephone saying, “Yes, yes, this is right!”

We gave scriptures to both of them, talking for quite some time, and then shethanked us and walked down the drive-way where Doug (another sidewalk coun-selor) was standing. He then began totalk with her and had a conversation withthe man on the phone as well! After thisother encounter, with each one of uspleading for the life of her grandchild andencouraging her to trust Jesus and dowhat is right in the sight of the Lord, shewent back to her car.

About ten minutes later, her daughtercame out, walking toward the back.Again we pleaded with her to leave, to bethe mama who protects her child, and tolet no harm come to her innocent baby. Her responses were the same as before,"I'm okay, I'm okay." She stood outsidethe car talking with her mother for quite awhile and then she stubbornly and brisklywalked away from the car, heading backup the driveway into this place of deathand destruction and went back inside.

The mother had exhausted every effortto try to save her grandchild, everything, but this time she had the courage to leave

because she did not want the blood of herinnocent grandbaby on her hands. Shenow understood the severity of this situ-ation!

Adreene, one of the other sidewalkcounselors, had said to her earlier, "therighteous are bold as a lion" (Proverbs28:1b) because she was acting so timid, and frightened of her daughter. The fearthat she had of her daughter trans-ferred to the fear of God and she leftthat place of death!

Unfortunately, the daughter stayed, and unless there was a miracle that wearen't aware of, that precious little babywas dismembered, dying a very painfuland barbaric death and ending up in theApopka dump like trash!

We are thankful, though, that we hadso much time to minister to the motherand we thank God for the man who shewas talking with. Her faith was shaken, and she understood what fearing Godmeans, and not fearing man. She expe-rienced being bold as a lion as she triedseveral times to save her grandchild, butalso understood and learned without adoubt, the severity of taking part in theexecution of her grandchild and the seri-ousness of innocent bloodshed.

All of our hearts weep for the little onewho was valiantly fought for, and all theother close to 40 babies who lost theirlives so tragically under the guise ofchoice that Saturday. One thing is forsure — there were people pleading forthese babes, being a voice for them andtrying to rescue them amidst vulgarwords, fists right up into our faces, threats from employees that they wouldcall the police, angry fathers, and somuch more. There were people whocared for them and cried for them.

Can we weep for the children?

Sidewalk Counselors HelpGrandmother Save Baby!

By Michele Herzog Central Florida Branch Manager

Sidewalk counselor Dan noticed twowomen standing in the back parking lotof the AWHC parking lot. Turned out itwas a mother and daughter, and the moth-er told me later she didn't want the bloodon her hands, so she took the opportunityto come and continue to try and talk herdaughter out of the abortion! Dan talkedwith them in depth, and let them knowabout the pregnancy center next door, andencouraged them to go over there, whichthey did!

By the time I arrived at the mill, Danhad left, so I kept my eye out for them.About an hour and a half later, they cameout, and I rushed over to introducemyself. I asked if there was anything Icould do, and the mother said that herdaughter could use a hug! So I huggedher immediately. We talked for quitesome time in the driveway; I shared mytestimony about abortion, and the motheropened up that she had had two abortions, and didn't want her daughter to walkdown the path that she had walked down.I told the mother that she is a rescuer, andthat God is going to honor and bless herfor loving her daughter and grandchild somuch! Wow. To God be the Glory, forHE has done great things!

A young Latina drove into PlannedParenthood in St. Paul not stopping forliterature. I called out regarding free helpand so forth. I handed her a card to anearby pregnancy center and then wetalked about her situation a bit. She saidit was her third time coming late for anappointment to abort. I told her Goddidn’t want her to abort. She stated thatbabies are a blessing, but she also startedcrying. Listing AbortionistsA hallmark of our ministry has been

confronting the evil of abortion with thelove of Christ. This approach has includ-ed publicly identifying who the abortion-ists (and pro-abortion leaders) are. Thepractice of placing the names of abor-tionists in this newsletter has a twofoldpurpose: to ask for your heartfelt prayersfor the conversion of those listed and toinform you so that you are not patients ofthose committing abortions.

The criteria for placing someone onthis list is that the individual is directlyinvolved in committing abortions andthat this has been reasonably verified. We have resoundingly condemned any

ly turn of events this past year. Forexample, various states have passed sub-stantial protections for their states’unborn babies and mothers, andPresident Trump is doing all within hisability to turn back the tide of abortion inAmerica. Perhaps the last straw forPlanned Parenthood’s leadership was theNinth Circuit Court of Appeals, whichhas in the past sided with their abortionagenda. The ruling allowed PresidentTrump’s Protect Life Rule to be imple-mented immediately, impacting federaltax funding.

History is repeating. PlannedParenthood’s board made an almost iden-tical decision in 1995 when their new

president, Pamela Maraldo, a former topexecutive of the National League forNursing, had similar goals to Wen. Shetoo had to go.

Planned Parenthood’s actions onceagain prove they are nothing more than achain of abortion facilities, and that theywill focus on maintaining political mus-cle to keep it that way.

At both Mildred Hanson’sand Robbinsdale, more black childrenwere killed than white children. Thelargest numbers of Hispanic abortionclients were at PP and Whole Woman’s,comprising almost 9% of the abortions ateach location.

Minn. Abortions(from page 6)

had previously given birth. About 40%had previously aborted (26 women hadnine or more previous abortions).

Although gestational age was notreported for 152 abortions, the latestabortion reported was at 39 weeks, withthree other babies killed between 31 and36 weeks, and 161 between 21 and 23weeks (when survival outside the wombis possible). Three abortion proceduresresulting in born-alive infants were re-ported. Presumably these were reportedby hospitals killing special-needs babies. It is extremely unlikely that the abortionmills that do late-term abortions (PP,Whole Woman’s, and Mildred Hanson’s)would report any live births (althoughrequired to since July 2015), particularlyif they illegally kill abortion survivors ortraffic in aborted baby parts. (See ourwebsite, plam.org, for documentation ofthese practices.)

Quoting from the Minnesota abortionreport regarding the three born-aliveinfants in 2018:  “In one instance . . .(t)here were anomalies incompatiblewith life. No measures taken to preservelife were reported and the infant did notsurvive. In one instance, comfort caremeasures were provided as planned andthe infant did not survive. In oneinstance, the infant was previable. Nomeasures taken to preserve life werereported and the infant did not survive.”

Nearly 649,000 unborn babies havebeen killed in Minnesota since the 1973Roe v. Wade decision, according to re-ports.

Here are the average number ofbabies killed per abortion day at theremaining three Twin Cities mills:

Planned Parenthood – 21Whole Woman’s – 9Robbinsdale - 4

Please join our sidewalk counselingand prayer team so that we will be ableto offer life-saving alternatives to eachand every one of these mothers!
