Fair testingwith
flying hair ties
AIM
• Our aim is to find out which hair ties stretcher by flinging them with a sling-shot.
PREDICTION
• The used hair ties are longer, so there is more time for friction to slow it down and it will drop faster.
METHOD
• Step 1: Make a sling-shot out of the sticks.
• Step 2: cut the extra hair tie and tie it at the top of the sling-shot.
• Step 3: Put the 15cm ruler at the joint of the sling-shot.
METHOD CONTINUED
• Step 4: Get 1 of the hair ties and pull it back around the cut hair tie to the 15cm mark and let go.
• Step 5: Measure how far the hair tie went with the 1 metre long rope and record the measurement.
RESULTS
• Used cotton hair tie – 5.350metres
• New cotton hair tie – 3.57metres
• Stretched hair tie – 2.200metres
• New hair tie – 2.530
• The used cotton hair tie WON!
CONCLUSION
• In conclusion the used cotton hair tie went the longest distance and came 1st with the unused cotton hair tie coming 2nd.
