Once upon a time there were 4 boys.

They lived in Liverpool.A big city in west England full of

industries and an enormous harbour.

What do you know about the 1960s pop group ‘The Beatles’?

Their families were working class people.

So, they were ordinary boys who loved music.

The first one was John Lennon. He met Paul MacCarthy. They wanted

to play music.

John Lennon was fan of Elvis Presley. So, They started to

play ROCK MUSIC.

They need someone to play the drums, so they asked Ringo

Starr to join the group.

In February 1959 George Harrison decided to join them.

They started to play in a pub called THE CAVERN in

Liverpool.

They dressed with jackets made of leather and they wore a “tupé” like rock people did.

A bussinessman saw them at the Cavern and told them to go to

HAMBURG in Germany.They started to play there and

earned money.

In Hamburg they changed of looking.

They left the leather jackets and started to dress in a smart way.

They also cut their hairs in a new style, long and straight.

They started a new fashion:LONG HAIR IN MEN.

But also they started a new style of music: POP MUSIC.

POP comes from POPULAR. It is the music that likes to everybody.

They released their first single ‘Love Me Do’ at the end of 1962

and their first album ‘Please Please Me’ early in 1963.

They became very famous.People went mad.

“Beatlemania” took over the world.And POP MUSIC was born.

All through the 60s The Beatles were successful, releasing

records and films, but by 1971 hey were beginning to have

arguments and they wanted to go their own ways.

In 1975, the Beatles were legally disbanded.

in November 2001.

Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr

still occasionally tour and record music.

HOWEVER, IT IS THE BEST MUSIC GROUP OF THE

20thCentury.They should not be forgotten.

During this term, we are going to listen to some of their music.
