FADS & FASHIONS Dancing such as the
foxtrot, shimmy, Charleston
Bobbed hair Silent films Automobiles Disney Gangsters
New York starts to become known as the “fashion capital”
Jazz music Started these things
to get a change from the war

WOMEN REBEL In the 1920’s women started to rebel
against society to gain intellectual independence
Trying to transition from old domestic ways of women
Some ways they rebelled were using profanity in public and smoking
SCHOOLS Americans kept children in schools
because they didn’t depend on their wages like before
College numbers increased New schools were built with huge gyms
and laboratories
IMPACT OF FADS Changed society forever Women and men were viewed
differently than before Women redefined their gender role. Speakeasies started coming around Jazz started booming Nightclubs Prohibition
NEW YOUTH CULTURE New youth culture was a social change
in America because it shows how people changed in society during the 1920’s
