The Iroquois believed that the great spirit made the world. They also believed that there were spirits for the clouds, rain, trees, plants, and more. They had a Thanksgiving address called “ Greetings to the natural world”. It said “ We are all thankful to our mother for she gives us all we need for life”. She supports our feet as we walk about upon her”. Also the ceremonies lasted for hours and the festivals could last for days. One festival is Thanksgiving.

The Seneca lived in longhouses and built villages. They built a fence so enemies could not go in there homes. The longhouses were made of wood, tree bark, and animal skin. The longhouses were built near streams. They were large wooden longhouses. They were so big they could fit thirty to sixty people in a longhouse. The fence was called palisade. A longhouse was a wooden building that housed many hodenosaunee.

The early people found roots, nuts, berries, and other foods from plants. The Seneca learned how to catch fish. The Seneca ate corn, beans, and other crops. The Seneca ate the three sisters witch are :corn, bean, and squash. They also store food in the longhouses to eat during the winter. The men fished , hunted, and trapped.

They trapped wolves, bears, and other mammals. Families catch fish during the spring. The Seneca hunted mammoths on there way across the barring straight. The Seneca hunted buffalo.

The Seneca used deer skins, wolf skins, and bear skins for clothing. The children wore traditional dresses witch were made out of deer skins. The men wore traditional dresses with wampum and wool. The woman mostly wore dresses or wolven clothing.

TRANSPORTATION: hunters from Asia crossed a land bridge to what is now Alaska. They where following mammoths. To cross the land bridge they used canoes.

Canoes are made out of tree bark and wood that the men got.
