YOUTH CULTURE

By: Jonna MaaranenYOUTH CULTURESCHOOLMost of the swedish teenagers go to school today, but some of them play truant and dont care about it at all. Its important to go to the school, beacuse you need to get good grades in order to do get a funny and good job. Many young people think that school is boring, including me, sometimes. In the Swedish schools the code of conduct is not that strict. We can have our own clothes and we can have any hairstyle we like.

This is my school, the main premice and PE hall in the backgroundCLOTHES AND FASHION Here the young do not have any particular style i.e. we dress in what we think is neat. Some like the punk and rock style and some think it is nice to have just jeans and T-shirt.Now it is modern to wear transparent blouses, shirts tucked in pants, feathers in the hair, large rings, knitted shirts and high heels.I usually have transparent blouses, shirts tucked in pants, large rings and knitted shirts. Its also morden with leather pants.

SPARE TIMEMany play computer and TV games for example, World of Warcraft, Counter strike and RS.There are also many who are doing sports, football, handball and basket.I play handball and I love it, its so fun I think! At weekends you can be with your friends and have sleep-overs! Its very fun! Many boys in our class play computer games after school, a lot of computer games and they also lanar, which means they play computer games all night, without any sleep. A lot of the spare time is to doing homework and studing for tests which I dont like it that much.

SPARE TIMEWhen I come home I do my homework and after that I do something I like, for example, I am with my friends or play handball.Sometimes you go to the town and shop with your friends. Many youths like the following stores to shop clothes in: Bik Bok, Gina Tricot and the biggest of all H&M. They are so good when you need taste for clothes. Sometimes you just simply stay at home and talk, listen to music and just chill out.

MOBILES, MUSIC & TVToday, almost all youngsters listen to music, everything from pop to classical music.I dont have any special music style, but I like Miss Li and the hitlist music. Most of Swedish teenages have their own mobiles. We do not call our friends so much today as we did before, we send text messages instead.I like watching TV and I think many will agree with me about that it is fun.I like to watch Pretty little liars, Idol, Top Model and handball.

This is Miss Li and this is one of her song

For 25 years agoFor about 25 years ago the fashion was not the same as today. It was modern to have wedges in the jeans, neon colors, sugar water in the hair to make it stand up straight high fringes, bleu mascara, leg warmers and vests. They were often out in their spare time. They were a lot at the discos, listened to music, were with friends and did sports.Earlier the youth didnt have any mobile phones, so they could not send text messages. So they called a lot from their home phone and sent letters to many pen pals.On the free time they did not watch TV nor played computer games so often, as we do today.

THE FOOD 25 YEARS AGOThe food wasnt the same as today, they didnt have any kebab, thai food or chinese food. They did not eat takeaway food as often as we do today. There were much smaller range of foods in the stores than there is today. There were three different kinds of yogurt, less different kinds of cereal, and there wasnt ready microwave food.
