Teachers are communicators who must express with clarity what they expect of students and how they will support their learning.

Teachers are informed professionals who should consider cultural, linguistic, and social differences that challenge each individual learner.

Teachers are agents of socialization who promote language, culture, and tolerance in their subjects.

Involve Students to Promote Learning

1. Have students set their own goals. 2. Have students assess how they learn

best and create opportunities to practice. 3. Students should monitor their

comprehension and progress of each task.

4. Students should assess their own progress and clarify misconceptions with the teacher.

Provide Comprehensible Input

Engage students prior knowledge in their language acquisition.

Use body cues or gestures to infer meaning.

Employ collaborative activities to provide opportunities to acquire language.

Make eye contact. Use a reassuring tone of voice. Set language objectives as well as

content objectives.

Use Task Oriented Strategies : Have students Make Inferences, predictions, and personalize content.

Using Imagination is helpful: implement the use of Imagery and role play activities.

Using Organizational Devices and Activities: Use of patterns, graphic organizers, or summaries helps with generalization.

Creating Positive Learning

1. Set flexible learning goals that personalize learning outcomes.

2. Modify content to suit the needs of the learner.

3. Provide Feedback that is timely and corrective, and not judgmental in nature.

4. Use alternative forms of assessments.5. Create a support structure that involves

teachers, parents, and students.6. Review and check understanding

frequently.

And Finally

Teachers have an immense impact on their students and should be mindful of that.

Get to know your students and their learning styles.

Be patient with your students. Use varied instruction that engages

students. Try to make connections that are familiar

to your students. i.e. culture , language, or music.

Be accessible to every student.
