Zu Hause means “at home” (location)

Nach Hause implies “going home” (motion)

The verb indicates motion nach Hause is used.

The verb does not indicate motion zu Hause is used.

When answering a question where someone is, if they are at home, you would reply by using zu Hause in the answer.

When answering a question where someone is, going home, you would reply by using nach Hause in the answer.

Q: Wo ist Jana? A: Sie ist zu Hause.Q: Where is Jana? A: She is at home.
