OLD DELHI’S FOODIE HEAVEN PHOTOS: MUHABIT UL HAQ A s Eid celebrations are in full swing in the city, don’t miss out on visiting the markets around Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, where you can enjoy some scrumptious delicacies, as well as buy food items for your home. One Eid bazaar that you should definitely visit in this area during this time is Matia Mahal, which is located in front of Gate Number 1 of Jama Masjid. Since Eid celebrations are incomplete without seviyan, make sure you buy some from here. Apart from seviyan, one can also buy sweets such as khajla and feni. These can be bought for anything between R70 to R150. Once here, you can also try out the sweet phirni, which is sold in an earthen pot by vendors. It is available from R40 to R60. The market also has vendors who sell various kinds of dates such as stuffed dates, seedless dates, and even flavoured ones. This area becomes a heaven for foodies during Eid. So, from non-vegetarian delights to mouthwatering sweet dishes, there are a lot of grub you can relish here. Celebrate Eid by relishing a wide variety of delicacies in the Matia Mahal area in the city There are various vendors in the Matia Mahal area near Jama Masjid, who sell sweets such as feni, khajla and seviya Come here to buy various kinds of dates (khajoor), which are popular during the month of Ramazan While here, don’t miss out on on delicacies such as tikkas, kebabs, and fried chicken, which are sold by the vendors KABEER LAL The spirit of Delhi is best cap- tured in the hustle bustle of the Old city. I love to go to Jama Masjid during the wee hours of morning to get nice pictures. The sun setting behind the Mosque is also one of my favourite shots. RAVI DHINGRA Nizamuddin Dargah is like a differ- ent city altogether. The path that leads to the mosque, with shops selling scarves and offerings, and the vibrant colours and qawwali are all captivating sights to capture. SHUBHRA CHATURVEDI The charm of old-world architecture at Connaught Place, juxtaposed with modern- age buildings is the perfect repre- sentation of the city to me. That’s why I love to click the inner and outer circle. MANAV MAINI The city is known for its baolis (water wells). My favourite is the Agrasen ki Baoli near Connaught Place. The look of awe on a person’s face as he enters the well is worth capturing.
