When did UNESCO create the program?

Unesco created the program to offer a future to vulnerable children through education. It was created in 1992.

What is the aim of the program?

As one of UNESCO’s five specialized Sectors, their mission is to advance knowledge, standards and intellectual cooperation in order to facilitate social transformations conducive to the universal values of justice, freedom and human dignity.

How was the program for education of children in need created?

The special UNESCO program "Education for Children in Need" has been standing up for poor children since 1992, providing them with school and vocational education for a brighter future .Each year UNESCO Special Ambassador Dr. h.c. Ute-Henriette Ohoven travels to the places in which children fight for their lives under worst conditions. She takes them by their hands, helps, and gives them a voice.

Can the program have negative effects?

Yes, Colleen Heflin found that requirements for some welfare programs can create stress on families, which can have a negative effect on young children.

How does the program effect the earth?

The program effects children that are in need of education. The program raises money to spend on educating tools to buy for children that are in need in being educated.

How much money was raised?

Since its creation US$34 million has been raised in private funds and these have been fully and directly invested into immediate support for over 340 projects in over 90 countries worldwide.
