TRENDS, BOUNDARIES AND WATER
Water Resources of Next Decade - Projections for Gujarat:
Workshop on Ground Water Management and Water Use Efficiency in State of Gujarat, Union Territory of Daman & Div.
Chairman: B.N. Navalwala (Advisor to Chief Minister). Recommendation:Use of existing dam storages for recharging fast depleting aquifers in Gujarat.

Study: a) Underground storage potentials.b) Source of surplus water in basin.c) Inter basin transfer of resources for MAR- Managed Aquifer Recharge.d) Ground water quality surveillance. Projection & warning:Alarming decline in annual water availability in most parts of Gujarat to 400 m3/ capita for 2020. (Water level to minimum for scares condition is 2000 m3/capita/year)
Flood in Tapti around Surat spill on banks of river Tapti flooding sq.kms even with releases of 2 - 3 lakhs, can be harvested to by recharging aquifers.

Conservation of Resources for Survival:
Source:Only flood water for South Gujarat & Narmada Canal for Central Gujarat Conservation of Flood:No storm drains for discharge to saline water i.e. river Tapti, Kim, Mindhola in lower reachesNetwork to intercept storm to pond (Flood Detention Reservoir) on Kahrland on coast (Combined coastal protection / highway)Recharge by bores in R.L. (-) 3 to (-) 15 m by wells / bores seepage to river ponds & weir storage.
