By reimagining learning today, we’re giving students the solutions to succeed tomorrow Welcome to the October edition of the Pearson South Africa TVET newsletter where you can find the latest news from the TVET sector including our recent events at various colleges, our new titles for 2016 and interviews with our authors Johan Van Antwerpen and Pamela Vale. Pearson hosts interactive workshops at Northlink, Capricorn and Motheo Colleges Pearson recently hosted interactive workshops at Northlink, Capricorn and Motheo TVET colleges where lecturers had the opportunity to meet and interact with industry specialists and Pearson authors Kiru Truman and Frikkie O’ Connell. These respected Fundamentals and Engineering authors shared their experience and support of Pearson learning solutions and reassured lecturers that these solutions could assist lecturers to achieve improved educational outcomes. The workshops had a strong focus on assisting colleges with the development of an elearning strategy and highlighted the journey that colleges should take to ensure that you cover the essential steps when implementing your elearning strategy. TVET Students eligible for degrees through Pearson institutions Pearson recently announced that TVET students will be able to progress to certain degree courses through Pearsons' tertiary learning institutions namely the Midrand Graduate Institute (MGI) and CTI (formerly known as the Computer Training Institute). The announcement was made at the North South TVET ICT Conference held in Somerset West in September. The news was welcomed by the sector, particularly the fact that Pearson will be able to assist with guidance regarding student support and bursaries further affording TVET students with opportunities to progress in their careers. False Bay student awarded on World Literacy Day Pearson recently sponsored a technology prize awarded to Simnikiwe Ngcawa, the winning student of the False Bay College Reading Competition. The award forms part of the International Literacy Day which recognised the integral role that literacy plays in sustainable development.
