Lion Habitat Lions live in plains or savanna habitat

of Africa.

Lions Predators Lions are spotted hyenas occupy the

same ecological niche and hence compete where they coexist.

Lion are in danger of losing the land it requires in order to thrive .

Lions Prey most small mammals such as

zebras,deers,antelope,gazelle,etc. Lions are carnivores they eat meat

buffalo, zebras wildebeest and water buck make up the bulk of their diet.

Lions Adaptations Their powerful hind legs help them run fast so they can catch their prey.

Their growl warns other males to keep away from their cubs and the lioness. Lions hunt in packs sometimes. It increases their opportunity to catch prey.

They use there claws to rip and tear prey's flesh and meat. They live in large groups for protection and convenience.

They have good eye sight for hunting at night because they have a reflective lens inside of their eyes Their acute sense of smell

Their sharp teeth for eating other animals Golden-brown fur for camouflage (allows them to blend into the surrounding plains) so they can sneak up on

prey.

Lions additional facts Most lions drink water daily if available,

can go for 4 or 5 days with out it. Lions in a arid areas seem to obtain needed moisture from the stomach contents of their prey.

When males take over a pride, they usually kill the cubs. The females come into estrus and the new males sire other cubs.

Lions additional facts Lions are family animals and are truly

social in their own communities .They usually live I n groups of 15 or more animals called prides. Prides can be small as 3 or as big as 40 animals.
