Aung San Suu Kyi was born on 19 June

1945 in Yango. Her father made some changes in

Burmese army. She grew up with her mother and two

brothers In high school she was noted as having a

talent for learning languages.

democratisation. Aung San Suu Kyi most famous speeches was

“Freedom from fear” The speech began: "It is not power that

corrupts, but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it."

She won 59% of votes in general election. Aung San Suu Kyi was placed under house arrest. During the arrest time she won the Noble Peace

Prize and Sakharov Prize for Freedom Used Nobel Peace Prize’s 1.3 million USD prize

money to help schools and hospitals in Burmese
