To the Men's Social Service Department of the Sal- vation Army in Torrance, lo- atcd at 1809 Post Avenue, it is ng this period that the Salva- lon Army gathers much of the materials that provide for the lomeless men that appeal to hem for help. This means that more than 75 persons were fed three meals a day, and furnished with clean bed each night through- ut the year. This tremendous ask was financed solely from \e proceeds of discarded furnl- ure, household materials, clotti- ng, shoes, rags, rugs, news- mpers, magazines, and other ast-off, materials .contributed f the housewives of the com- munity. Glad to Cdl for Cast-Off ssupport of the housewives of the community In maintaining our record . of 'public service to the destitute of the .community. Their splendid cooperation made it possible for us to feed and house hundreds of men each month, and to contribute more than $26,000 in cash allowances during the past year, to help in their rehabilitation to self-sup porting men and useful law abiding citizens, no longer a public charge or menace to the community," stated Brigadier Sydney L. Cooke, officer in com mand of the Men's Social Ser-' vice Department for the South, Bay pistrict.

Your cast-off and discarded materials may be waste to you, but they form the basis of a very real community service. As your spring housccleanlng pro gresses, set aside all materials which may be available for the relief program of the Salvation Army, and when you are ready to make. your contribution please phone 893, or drop a card to the Salvation Army at 1309 Post Avenue In Torrance, and a Red Shield Truck will call at your convenience.
