Born Raymond Brost in Buffalo, New York, Ray Henderson moved to New York City and became a successful Tin Pan Alleycomposer. Henderson's biggest hit songs included That Old Gang of Mine, Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries, I'm Sitting on Top of theWorld,The Varsity Drag, You're the Cream in My CoJfee, Button Up Your Overcoat, You Are My Luclqt Star, Keep Your Sunny Side Up,The Thrill Is Gone and Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue.
Mort Dixon began writing songs in the early 1920s. He achieved success in 1923 with his first published effort, That Old Gang ofMine. Dixon also penned the lyrics to such popular hits as I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover, I Found a Million Dollar Baby,You're My Everything, The Lady in Red, Would You Like to Take a Ll/alk? and River, Stay 'Way from My Door.
Most of the aforementioned songs are barbershop favorites which are published by the Barbershop Harmony Society. BothHenderson and Dixon are members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Brian Beck has arranged numerous songs for BHS groups, Sweet Adelines International ensembles (including the Dallas championchorus Rich-Tones) and his gold-medal championship quartets, the Dealer's Choice and the Side Street Ramblers. His publishedcharts include his original songl'm Sorry I Made You Cry, with the famous "Cry" tag; Goodbye, Old Dixie, Goodbye; You Can HaveEvery Light on Broadway; and The Story of the Rose (Heart of My Heart).
