ABOUT USEstablished in Padua in 1950, UNUS S.P.A. initially produced bicycle bells and later on moved to electro-pneumatic horns.

In 1986 it was named “UNUS International S.P.A.” and started designing and producing motors and gearmotors (12 -24 -48 V) for the automotive industry, firstly seeing to the planning phase. The target, initially focused on the production of aftermarket products, later on moved to the to OEM market with supply of motors/gearmotors for power windows (SIMCA-TALBOT Group).

In 1995 UNUS International moved to the new production plant and head office, located in Rivale di Pianiga nearby Venice on a surface of about 10.000 sq. meters, with 100 employees and production of more than 2.500.000 units per year.

Today Unus International produces a wide range of motors andgearmotors, mainly for the OEM market.The applications range from the production of gearmotors for power windows to motors and gearmotors for seats adjustment,

sun roofs, steering columns, sun blinds and motors for residen-tial and industrial applications, such as closing and opening of electric gates, main doors and blind systems.

Non-stop research and development aimed to reaching the highest quality standards are the bases of Unus International corporate philosophy.This is the reason of current export results, with 90% of produc-tion for international markets.

Unus International has established solid strategic and industrial relations with international markets being sub-supplier of some of most important automotive premium and luxury segments among which Audi-VW Group VW (A4, A5, A6,A8,Q7 and Passat, Touareg, Phaeton), Bmw (Series 5, Series 7), Mercedes (E Class, S Class), Maybach, Porsche (Cayenne), Bentley (Continental GT), Lexus.Besides the above mentioned premium and luxury segments, Unus International also supplies for vehicles of Ford, Hyundai, Ssangyong-Mahindra, Citroën, Iveco Truck, Renault Truck, Daimler Truck Groups.

PRODUCTSUnus International has been designing and producing motors

and gearmotors (12 -24 -48 V) for power of servomechanism

for the civil and industrial automotive sector since 1986.

Products range from motors and gearmotors for servomecha-

nisms for power window to gear motors for seat adjustments,

sun roofs blinds, steering column adjustments, sun blinds,

motors for electric gates and sliding doors.

Our R&D department also designs and develops

motors/gearmotors for special applications specifically

requested by our customers such as:

• motors for robotized gears

• motors for air suspension systems

• motors for activation of radiator valves

• appliances requiring silent functioning(< 40 dB(A))

ENGINEERINGIn 2007 Unus international sets up Unus Engineering and

Services Srl to provide consulting planning and technology

services.

This was due to the fact that over the years our Company has

reached relevant know how levels which have led companies

to require our consulting services.

To provide such services in total autonomy and efficiency we

opted for the start up of a new business model and completely

independent from Unus International.

Unus Engineering and Services offers its services to Companies

that need planning consulting in electro-mechanic areas, produc-

tion organization, quality systems, materials and technology.

Unus Engineering and Services added value lays in the conju-

gation of technical knowledge with production expertise which

leads to tangible economic advantages when passing from

project to production line.

ORGANISATIONAND PRODUCTION The production of Unus International is organized in two

departments:

• Rotors production

• Assembly (assembly and testing)

The department of rotor production has two fully automatic

production lines that guarantee a production of 1.350

induced per hour.

The department is organized on maximum flexibility within

production Quality and Insurance System parameters:

• the lines can process 8, 10, 12 cave rotors, with 24, 28, 29,

32 , 39 and 44 mm diameters;

• the set up can be modified at extremely short notice thanks

to the innovative concept of production organization, thus

allowing significant and extremely fast production changes;

• all the production phases are controlled by automatic control

systems, “poka yoke” type also for the most critical ones such

as electric controls, the turning manifold parameters and

induced imbalance assessment.

The assembly department is organized on dedicated auto-

matic lines that contemplate controls of electric parameters and

electro-mechanic performance on all production areas.

All motors/gearmotors are finally tested in soundproof room

to check noisiness, following objective (body vibration analysis)

and subjective assessment procedures.

QUALITYThe Unus International Quality Assurance System is certified

ISO 9001:2008 e ISO-TS 16949:2009 and undergoes

periodic auditing by certifying bodies besides the constant

supervision of customer’s auto motive companies.

Just to mention some examples, in 2010 Daimler promoted

our Company as their supplier with the highest rating of

reliability and the same happened once again with Lexus-

Toyota in 2011.

In our Company the quality is meant both as management

system and as product qualitative level and is considered an

essential asset; the technical staff engaged in the Quality

Assurance Department is composed by senior operators who

have years experience in the different fields of mechanics,

from mechanic tooling to plastic molding and metal alloys, up

to sintering. Quality supervises all corporate processes,

particularly those connected to development and implementation

of new products.

Starting from receipt of customers requirements , the projects

are implemented thanks to the use of FMEA techniques (Failure

Modes and Effects Analysis) and assessed through thorough

validation tests, carried out in compliance with the specifica-

tion test of the most famous automotive Companies such as

Lexus, Maybach, BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Ford; furthermore

internal production is continuously monitored also by SPC

techniques. Besides all that we also have our suppliers’

production processes constantly assessed according to our

Company qualitative standards.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT Over the last 25 years Unus International has invested relevant

resources to organize the Technical Department which is

currently composed by two Divisions:

• Technical Planning Division

• Research & Development Division

The Technical Planning Division has the task to analyze

customers requests and work out the best planning solutions to

meet customers’ requirements and add value to the product,

while the goal of the R&D Division is the creation of new lead-

ing edge solutions and definition of product technical road

map.

The top quality of our products is guaranteed by CAD 3D

software (with possibility to modify data with IGES, CATIA-

CGR, STEP, STL, DXF, DWG applications) and specific applica-

tions dedicated to motors dimensioning, to meshing and

wheels profiles together with FMEA, GD&T and DOE tech-

niques besides the production in extremely tight scheduling of

working sample prototypes also thanks to the use of 3D printers.

Technical solutions are tested in our laboratory where we carry out:

• Electro mechanic characterization

• Reliability test

• Climatic test

• Resistance to saline fog

• Level of IP protection

• Acoustic measurement/ body analysis

The basis of our corporate philosophy is the continuous

improvement of product and process, analyses of market

expectations and the non-stop cooperation with our Customers.
