Section 3: Software Media

Important The Centricity PACS 4.0 SP10 release of the DVD CPACS LINUX PLATFORM 5.8 media includes the patch for “Shellshock: Bash Code Injection Vulnerability via Specially Crafted Environment Variables (CVE-2014-6271, CVE-2014-7169).” Servers loaded using this platform media will not have the Shellshock vulnerability. Sites that do not reload servers should install the previously distributed BASH patch. Contact your GE support representative for more information.

Adobe Reader offers powerful view, navigation, and multi-document search tools that are not displayed by default. For example, the Previous View and Next View tools work like Backward and Forward in a web browser. And the advanced search tool enables you to search all PDF files in a directory. To configure these tools, see your Adobe Reader documentation.

1-1: System Requirements

PACS 4.0 SP10 supports the minimum hardware configurations listed in Table 2-1 for each server or client subsystem. No Solaris servers are supported. All servers must be capable of supporting a 64-bit operating system.

1-3: Hardware Compatibility

Caution: Hardware supplied by customers must meet all applicable standards listed under the “Certifications” section in the Centricity PACS RA1000 Workstation and Exam Manager Operator Manual for this release of Centricity PACS.

Important Before installing or upgrading, verify that your site hardware meets Centricity PACS compatibility requirements. If your site's hardware is not listed in this section, escalate to your director of Service as soon as possible.

Important Centricity PACS 4.0 SP10 supports the Archive Interface Module (AIM). The AIM software runs either on the Enterprise Archive (EA) server or, if the site does not have EA, on a standalone AIM server. If a pre-4.0 SP10 site uses either EA or the GE Application Service Provider (GE ASP) archiving service, the site will need to acquire a standalone server to run AIM. The AIM software must be configured on the EA server or a standalone EA server before the PACS upgrade is completed.

PowerPath Users Upgrading to Red Hat 5.8 will break the configuration of your PowerPath drivers. To restore the multipathing connection, you will need to reinstall the PowerPath drivers. Make sure you are prepared to do this after the Red Hat 5.8 upgrade is complete.

1-5: C2C Server Compatibility

In Centricity PACS 4.0 SP10, Centricity to Centricity (C2C) servers are supported between PACS 4.0 SP10 to PACS 4.0 SP10.

Transfers between PACS 4.0 SP10 and other versions are not supported.

1-6: Java 1.7 Support

With this release, Centricity PACS supports Java 1.7 for the following component:

1-7: SPINE Authentication

Centricity PACS 4.0 SP10 does not support SPINE authentication.

SPINE consists of security features used in the Centricity PACS Workstation and Exam Manager that include Single Sign On (SSO) and Exam Access: Legitimate Relationship and Patient Consent [or Patient Demographics Services (PDS)].

Note: SPINE security is not available in some markets.

1-8: Virtual Machine Requirements

Centricity PACS 4.0 SP10 supports installation and deployment of the IMS and other servers in a virtual environment.

Important Supporting Centricity PACS components in a VM environment requires customer VM expertise and a customer VM environment.

Note: The use of “VMware” and other vendor-specific references are for example only; equivalent virtual machine environments are supported.

Servers must be capable of supporting a 64-bit operating system.

1-8-1: Memory Requirements

Virtual memory needs a 1-to-1 relationship to physical memory. For example, if you install a database server and two nodes, the physical servers would require 24 GB (3 servers x 8 GB RAM). Therefore, the virtual memory of those VMs is also 24 GB, and physical memory of the VM farm is 24 GB.

Note: You can add additional VMs to your VM farm; however, performance degradation may occur if you overextend physical RAM.

Note: Centricity PACS does not support oversubscription of hardware resources in a virtual environment.

1-8-2: CPU Requirements

Virtual CPUs do not always need a 1-to-1 relationship with the physical CPUs as is the case with RAM. Depending on CPU performance (CPU speed), additional virtual CPUs may be required to perform the same processes as CPUs with higher CPU speed.

Note: Red Hat Linux 5.8 is required if the server uses the AMD Opteron 6000-series chip set in a VMware virtual environment.

1-8-3: Network Requirements

Virtual NICs replace physical NICs. In a non-VM environment, 2 physical NICs are required. In a VM environment, 1 virtual NIC replaces both physical NICs.

1-1: RA1000 Workstation

1-1-1: Display Structured Notes by Default When an Exam Is Opened

With this release, the Structured Reports tab in the Notes window can be displayed by default when an exam is opened. This behavior is enabled by selecting Structured Reports for the Automatically Display Notes When Opening an Exam option (Utilities > Preferences > System Preferences > Exam Opening Options).

1-1-2: Platinum Properties to Display Notes When an Exam Is Opened

In the Exam Opening Options (Utilities > Preferences > System Preferences), if the note type (e.g., Structured Reports) selected by a user cannot be displayed by default when an exam is opened (either because the exam does not contain the note type or because the user does not have the privilege to view the note type), the following Platinum property can override the user preference settings:

With this release, the window/level that the user applies to a full-sized image in RA1000 are reflected in the thumbnail image in the Navigator after the user saves the changes.

Note: Window/level changes are specific to the user and the thumbnail. The window/level changes to do not affect the presentation state of the image.

1-1-4: Specifying Precision of ROI Statistics on MR Functional Maps

With this release, Platinum properties enable specifying the precision of ROI statistics displayed on functional maps for MR images.

ROI statistics [DICOM tag (0028,1053)] are displayed in either exponential (the default) or decimal format based on the following platinum property:

With this release, a property in the DAS configuration file (das.config) supports storing and displaying standard secondary capture images [SOP class UID STANDARD_SEC_CAPTURE (1.2.840.10008.5.1.4.1.1.7)] from structured report (SR) modalities. This capability enables Centricity PACS to accept, for example, dose radiation reports of this SOP class from SR modalities.

1-1-8: Filtering Out Images Not Supported for Display

With this release, a new Platinum property enables RA1000 to filter out images not supported for display. Filtering occurs on a per image basis and is in addition to the supported modality configuration information at the exam level.

Problem:

After a user logged in to Centricity Exam Manager (CEM), the wrong domain was displayed for the user.

Resolution:

With this release, the OVERRIDE DEFAULT AUTHORITY NAME parameter specifies whether the DEFAULT AUTHORITY NAME (globally assigned domain) is overridden by the Assigning Authority (domain assigned to the user) when the user logs in to CEM. The default is “N” (No).

For more information, see OVERRIDE DEFAULT AUTHORITY NAME in the “Client Workstation Configuration Settings” table in the Client Configuration chapter of the Centricity PACS System Administrator Online Help Manual.

Problem:

If a user opened and then quickly closed an exam (with Save on Close enabled), closing the exam took an abnormal amount of time because RA1000 had to complete loading the exam images before it could save and close the exam.

Resolution:

With this release, when Save on Close is enabled, RA1000 saves an exam before closing it only if the user modifies the exam.


Problem:

RA1000 did not support view codes R-1024A (XCCL–exaggerated lateral craniocaudal) or R-1024B (XCCM– exaggerated medial craniocaudal) for mammography views.

Resolution:

With this release, RA1000 supports both new codes (R-1024A and R-1024B) and deprecated codes (Y-X1770 and Y-X1770) for XCCL and XCCM mammography views, respectively.


Problem:

The Event Notification Monitor (ENM) did not issue a notification when a user logged in to a workstation.

Resolution:

With this release, the ENM generates a notification when a user logs in to a workstation.

When using integrated desktop reporting (IDR) with PowerScribe, if the user discarded (or closed without saving) a report, the exam was closed, marked “Dictated,” and removed from the Dictate mode list in RA1000.

Resolution:

As of the 4.0 SP7 Centricity PACS release, when using the IDR with PowerScribe, if the user discards (or closes without saving) a report, the exam is closed, its status is “Verified” (i.e., status is unchanged), and it remains in the Dictate mode list in RA1000.

When retiring an IV at a site, the IV was flushed to 1% following proper procedures; thereafter, a user incorrectly deleted the remaining images manually.

The Centricity PACS RA1000 Workstation and Exam Manager Operator Manual incorrectly stated that filter effects applied to an image were erased by cining through the series, adjusting the window/level, reloading a series, or closing/reopening an exam.

Resolution:

The following text is removed from the “Using Image Filters” section in the Image View Area chapter of the Centricity PACS RA1000 Workstation and Exam Manager Operator Manual:

If you perform any other actions on the images, the filter effects are erased. For example, the filter changes are erased if you:

Cine though the series. Adjust the window/level. Reload a series. Close and reopen an exam.


Problem:

The image displayed in RA1000 was “noisy” due to incorrect byte swapping from OB to OW by DAS.

Resolution:

With this release, byte swapping from OB to OW by DAS is now correct.


Problem:

When a third-party viewer displayed Centricity PACS images with spine-labeling annotations, the annotations contained meaningless characters.

Note: Centricity PACS conforms to DICOM standards. In RA1000, the DICOM tag ST (0070,0006), an unformatted text value, is implemented with delimiters. For this reason, a third-party viewer may display an annotation with the delimiters. For example, spine-labeling annotation “L1” may be rendered as "L1:~:0:~:0:~:" by a third-party viewer. The workaround is to manually delete or modify the DICOM tag.

Problem:

When setting up a remote archive destination using the CA tool, if “Archive” was chosen at Auto Send Reason, a nonarchived exam (lta_stat=N) sent to the destination had its lta_stat value set to “R” and was not archived to the PACS LTA. Because exams with lta_stat=R are targets for deletion by CAM during a purge, any nonarchived exam with lta_stat=R was a potential data loss.

Resolution:

In the Configuration chapter of the System Administrator Online Help Manual, in the “Destinations” section, the “Adding and Editing a Destination” section is revised as follows:

Caution: If you choose “Archive” for an Auto Send Reason to an archive destination, the status of any nonarchived exam (lta_stat=N) sent to the destination will be set to “R” (lta_stat=R), and the exam will not be archived to the PACS LTA. Because exams with lta_stat=R are targets for deletion by CAM during a purge, any nonarchived exam with lta_stat=R status is a potential data loss.


Problem:

Study-level information (such as accession number) that was modified using Centricity Exam Manager or via the RIS was not propagated to AW Server because the study identifiers used by Centricity web service differed from those used by other services to reconcile data.

Resolution:

With this release, Centricity web service uses standard identifiers to reconcile data across applications.

The Configuring Language Support chapter in the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual did not state that language configuration was also required on the client.

Resolution:

The following note is added at the beginning of the Configuring Language Support chapter of the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual:

In PowerScribe, after the user signs the report and quickly opens a new study, an out-of-context situation might occur.

Resolution:

With this release, a new study opens only if the study is no longer in a “pending” state in Centricity PACS.


Problem:

After merging patient exams using the web-based Centricity Exam Manager launched from RA1000, the font and background colors were the same in Lights Off skin in RA1000, making the text illegible.

Resolution:

A code fix resolved this issue. Information is displayed correctly when the Lights Off skin is used.


Problem:

The information about Centricity PACS in a VM environment was out of date.

Resolution:

With this release, the Setting Up a PACS Virtual Environment appendix in the Centricity PACS Servers Installation and Upgrade Manual is updated.

In RA1000, switching among worklists with the same column widths resulted in the column widths changing.

Resolution:

With this release, switching among worklists does not affect the column widths.


Problem:

In the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual, the “Setting up SFTP for Security Audit or ENM Log” section in the Database Maintenance and Administration chapter incorrectly referred to FTP as secure FTP (SFTP).

Resolution:

In the Centricity PACS Servers Service Manual, occurrences of “SFTP” are changed to “FTP.”


Problem:

In a Universal Viewer–AW Server integrated workflow, occasionally AW Server did not launch when an exam was opened.

Resolution:

As of the 4.0 SP7 Centricity PACS release, AW Server launches when an exam is opened in a Universal Viewer–AW Server integrated workflow.


Problem:

Using the Image Volume-STS Management feature of RHA to add a NAS IV to an STS failed if the STS name contained a space character.

Resolution:

With this release, adding a NAS IV to an STS using RHA succeeds regardless of a space character in the STS name.

RIS-IC–PACS integration in a PACS-driven workflow failed because a Platinum extend property was set by default for a RIS-driven workflow:

Resolution:

With this release, generated KOS via RA1000 includes DICOM tag (0008,1111).


Problem:

In Centricity PACS–LDAP integration, if LDAP passwords were not persistent, users could not log in to AW Server from RA1000.

Resolution:

With this release, a web service call authenticates LDAP passwords (both persistent and nonpersistent) when users log in to AW Server from RA1000. The mt_port parameter in the /usr/local/awspacswebsrv/config/config_ws.properties file specifies the port for logging in to AW Server from RA1000. The default port is 80.

Problem:

In Centricity PACS 4.0 SP5, the release notes stated that the Launch QC Tool button, which starts RA600 from the Patient Information tab of Centricity Exam Manager (CEM) in RA1000, could be configured to launch other QC tools.

Resolution:

With this release, the error is corrected. See “QC Tool Button Is Not Configurable” on page 46.


Problem:

During installation of the Centricity PACS IMS, the generic addlogin script for Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise (ASE) was overridden by the addlogin script for a specific version of ASE.

Resolution:

A code fix resolved this issue: The generic addlogin script for ASE is not overridden.


Problem:

Centricity PACS documentation and the Extends online help refer to OrthoVew 2.0.6 extend, which the vendor no longer supports.

Resolution:

With this release, in the Workstation Installation and Service Manual, the following sentence replaces the content in the “OrthoView” section of the Extends Installation appendix:

OrthoView no longer supports the OrthoView 2.0.6 extend.

All other references to the OrthoView extend are removed from the Centricity PACS documentation and Extends online help.

Problem:

In RIS-IC–PACS integration with IDR in RIS-IC–driven mode, RA1000 failed to launch when an exam was selected in RIS-IC because extend properties were not found.

Resolution:

With this release, a code fix resolved the issue.


Problem:

In a Centricity PACS configuration without integrated reporting, an out-of-context situation occurred in Dictate mode when the user marked a report “Dictated,” and then cancelled instead of saving the exam images when prompted (per the Prompt To Save Image Before Closing preference).

Resolution:

With this release, in Dictate mode, the Cancel option is removed from the Prompt to Save dialog box to maintain context between exam and images.

In the Image View Area chapter, in the “Navigating in Exams” section, replace the note in “Navigating through Images” subsection with the following note:

Note: If the workstation cannot display a type of image (e.g., breast tomosynthesis images), the “Image Type Not Supported for Display” message appears. Your site administrator can set a Platinum property on the workstation to filter out images that are not supported for display. Filtering out images suppresses both the DICOM header information and the “Image Type Not Supported for Display” message.
