4hOnline Guide for Youth and Adults 4hOnline is a new web-based system used to enroll youth and adults in the California 4-H Youth Development Program. 4hOnline may be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Please review the 4hOnline Enrollment Forms for information regarding enrolling in 4-H. This document serves as a user guide to the 4hOnline Enrollment System. NOTE: Some counties do not allow on-line enrollment. Computer Requirements You must use one of the following Web browsers:
Ø Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer (for Windows users) Ø Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or newer (for Windows and Apple users) Ø Netscape 8.0 or newer (for Windows and Apple users) Ø Mozilla Camino 1.5 or newer (for Apple users) Ø Apple's Safari is NOT supported
You must enable cookies and Javascript. Family Accounts 4hOnline groups enrollments within a “Family Account.” One family account is created to enroll youth and adults within that family. Usernames & Passwords The username is the family email address. In order to log in to the system or create a new family account, a valid email address must be used. Each family account must have a unique email address; they cannot be shared with any other family accounts. Passwords may be changed once you are logged into the system.

Step 1: Go to https://california.4honline.com Step 2-A: Members and Volunteers need to create a “family account.” Click “I need to setup a profile”.
Step 2-B: 1. Select “Orange” for the County. 2. Type in a family e-mail. 3. Confirm the e-mail by typing it again. 4. Type in your family last name. 5. Type in your password.
6. Confirm you password by typing it again. 7. Select “Family” for the Role. 8. Click on “Create Login”.
Step 2-C: Personal Information 1. Fill in your “Address” and “City”. 2. Fill in your “Zip Code” and “Primary Phone”. 3. You do not need to change your password at this time. 4. Click “Continue”.

STEP 3: Add a Youth Enrollment Select “Youth” from the drop-down box labeled “Add a New Family Member” you will need to enter information on three pages of enrollment. NOTE: The parent or legal guardian must fill out and electronically sign the youth enrollment form.

In the “Volunteer” area, check “Yes” if you serve in a leadership capacity such as a Junior or Teen Leader or Club Officer. For Ethnicity, check all that apply. Click the “Continue” button once you are finished entering information on this page.

You will be asked to sign the Enrollment Confirmation and Waiver of Liability electronically. Please read the text and then “sign” by marking the checkbox.

You will need to download and print the Medical Release Form and turn it in to your Community 4-H Club Leader. Click the “Continue” button once you are finished entering information on this page.

Youth Enrollment Page 3: Participation On this page, you will enroll in a 4-H Club, select projects, and add any other countywide groups/units by selecting the blue tabs labeled “Clubs,” “Projects,” and “Groups.”

PROJECTS: Select the Club and then select projects offered by that Club.

GROUPS: Select any Groups or Units offered in your county. These may include Countywide Projects or committees. Click the “Continue” button once you are finished entering information on this page. You have successfully entered an enrollment! You will receive an email to the family account email address confirming the enrollment.

STEP 4: Add an Adult Enrollment After selecting “Adult” from the drop-down box labeled “Add a New Family Member” you will need to enter information on three pages of enrollment. Your birth date is required.

STEP 5: OFF-LINE Additional Enrollment Steps Once you have entered the enrollment information online, there are several additional steps you will need to take. Additional Enrollment Instructions: 4-H Youth Members
Medical Release and Health History To ensure the safety of all 4-H participants, each 4-H member and volunteer must provide a medical treatment form upon initial enrollment. This ensures that at any given time, a 4-H volunteer in charge of an activity can reach the parents or guardians of all 4-H members participating in the activity, or can produce a medical treatment form to be used by emergency medical personnel. Directions: Please open the document, print, complete and return to your Community 4-H Club/Unit Leader or County 4-H Office. Payment of Program Fees All 4-H members and volunteers must pay program fees which include accident and sickness insurance. Fee information is available from the Community 4-H Club Leader and/or the County 4-H Office.
Additional Application Instructions: 4-H Adult Volunteers 4-H Youth Development Program Volunteers are appointed by the County Director. The decision to appoint or not appoint a volunteer (whether initially or upon renewal) rests with the County Director, in consultation with appropriate 4-H staff. All appointments should be made with the best interest of the 4-H Youth Development Program and 4-H members as the primary criteria. Adults are eligible to participate in 4-H if they are 18 years of age or older. A volunteer cannot simultaneously be a 4-H member. Chaperones must be 21 years of age or older (county age requirement may differ).

Volunteer Confidential Self-Disclosure Form 4-H Volunteers must provide a Confidential Self-Disclosure form to the County 4-H Office before their enrollment will be approved. The purpose for requesting the information on this form is to provide a safe environment for young people involved with 4-H activities. Furnishing all information requested on this form is mandatory. Failure to provide this information will delay or prevent appointment as a 4-H Volunteer. Directions: Please open the document, print, complete and return to the County 4-H Office. Background Screening Complete the background screening process including a Live Scan or BID-7 Finger Print Form. More information regarding this process is available from your Community 4-H Club Leader or County 4-H Office. Orientation Participate in a required 4-H volunteer orientation. More information regarding this process is available from your Community 4-H Club Leader or County 4-H Office. Child Safety Training Child Safety Online Training can be completed through the California State 4-H Website: http://www.ca4h.org/ under Volunteer Resources. Send in the Certificate of Completion once you have finished the training via postal mail or email.
