How often has overcrowding been a problem?
Very often
Occasionally
Not often
Never
• At first glance the chart seems to suggest that overcrowding is a problem
• However data on overcrowding ranges from ‘Occasionally’ to ‘Never, totaling 91.5% of respondents who do not see overcrowding as a chronic problem.
DATA COMPARISONS RELEVANT TO EXPANSION • In Question 5, 57.5% said there is sufficient space
• In Question 6, 67% said they don’t stay at the cabana when they go to the beach
• Question 8 shows crowding is more of an issue in Summer and in particular the Summer holidays. However, when compared to Question 9, more than ½ the respondents said that they have not experienced a ‘filled to capacity’ situation
• In Question 10, the combined answers of ‘occasionally,’ ‘not often, and ‘never,’ a total of 91.5%, suggest that overcrowding is not an issue.
Conclusion: When analyzed as a whole, the data from questions 5,6, 8, 9, and 10 suggests there is not enough concern for overcrowding to support cabana expansion.
The following slides deal with the Cabana amenities
CABANA AMENITIES Important Features
QUESTION 11: PUBLIC BATHROOM
24.8%
39.9%
21.5%
13.8%
How often do you use the bathroom located outside of the gated area?
Often
Occasionally
Not often
Never
• Over 64% of the respondents use the public bathroom ‘Often’ or ‘Occasionally.’ The data suggests we should retain the public bathroom.
• However the reasoning given in respondent comments to keep the public bathroom related to not having to use a key card/fob to access it. That is no longer an option since a card reader was installed on the public bathroom.
SHUTTLE USAGE 0.1% 1.8% 4.5%
12.2%
81.4%
How often do you use the shuttle?
Daily
1-2 times a week 1-2 times a month 1-2 times a year
• 82% of the respondents say they never use the shuttle. Over half only use in the AM (AM=55.15%, Noon=22.16%, PM=22.68%)
• Majority of users—78.16%-- are in Multi-family homes
• Only 1 of 8 comments were positive and that person only uses the shuttle in July and August
• Annual cost to operate: $82, 644 a 100% paid by the BRRA
• BRRA CC&R, pp 7.14 requires a shuttle at Barefoot Resort. Does not give right to use to non-BRRA people, nor does paragraph cite frequency or route requirements
Possible Change Options ! Discontinue the shuttle since most of our people don’t use it (requires CC&R change) ! Decrease route schedule to accommodate usage times cited in question 13 ! Require people to show BRRA access cards/ passes ! Do not have stops at non- BRRA locations ! Institute a pay-to-uses system, e.g., purchase a shuttle pass ! Levy pro-rata fees on Joint Committee/Non-NRA associations to pay for shuttle
