SURVEY DATA This survey was created with the assistance of an advisory committee and funded by a grant from the State Department of Education. Surveys were mailed in the fall of 2001 to all 169 local school districts. Data was collected by paper and web-based collection efforts. Data was analyzed with Lotus Approach and Microsoft Excel and written in MS. Word. USER INFORMATION We collected 97 responses from the 169 potential districts, netting a 57% return, which is considered excellent for polling results. This is offset somewhat by the lack of responses in a number of questions, which may effect the accuracy of some responses. While we are pleased with the response, it is lower than in past years. In response to why they did not complete the survey, several superintendents said that the increased length of the survey was responsible. Most responses were mailed or faxed in, while 33% were completed online.
