Every new development and application is systematically tested at CESI Laboratories in order to provide a FULLY guaranteed

product: we perform short-time destructive testing, without

circuit breakers, by causing a short-circuit directly in the main busbar system.

Cabel System, while developing its products over the years, has successfully passed the following tests:

Test Report MP-95/000687

Short-circuit test for 1 second on a busbar system consisting of slanted busbars with In=630 A, Icc 16 kA / 32 pkA

Test Report MP-95/000470

Short-circuit test for 1 second on a busbar system consisting of parallel busbars with In=3200 A, Icc 60 kA / 132 pkA

Test Report MP-95/032466

Short-circuit test for 1 second on a busbar system consisting of parallel busbars with In=5000 A, Icc 100 kA / 220 pkA.

Test Report MP-97/029210

Short-circuit test for 1 second on a HERGO busbar system with In=6300 A, Icc 150 kA / 330 pkA.

To ensure operator safety, we have also performed - and

successfully completed - an internal arc fault test (the first test of

its kind in Europe) at CESI, the Italian Experimental Electro-chnical

Centre.

Test Report A6/007691 Short-circuit test under conditions of arcing due to an internal

fault on a switchboard with In=7100 A, Icc 50 kA and admissible arcing time of 0.3”

Test Report A6/007693 Short-circuit test under conditions of arcing due to an internal

fault on a switchboard with In=7100 A, Icc 100 kA and admissible arcing time of 0.3”

TENTS bel System boasts the first European test report (MP-97/029210,

In=6300 Icc 150 kA/330 pkA) on the HERGO busbar system, currently produced our laboratories, unique of its kind and protected by

International tent No 98 118 419.5-220.

BENEFITS OF A STAGGERED BUSBAR SYSTEM HERGO

The HERGO busbar system represents Cabel System’s most significant product: besides being an exclusive product of the company, with a European patent, it is unique in terms of benefits and options for customisation. What makes it so special is the certification gained following the first European test carried out on a staggered busbar system (6300A 150 kA-330 pkA). The benefits of the system are listed below:

1. VISIBILITY

All copper segments and connections can be visually inspected since busbars are arranged both on a vertical and horizontal axis. 1. ACCESSIBILITY

All busbars can be easily accessed and inspected for maintenance since the busbar systems are appropriately placed inside the switchboard.

1. RESILIENCE

High resilience cause with a 90kA short-circuit current our busbar supports are always aligned with the uprights.

1. STURDINESS

The HERGO system was TYPE TESTED at CESI after an In=6300 A busbar has undergone a stress of 150 kA - 330 pkA peak, the test was carried out without use of protection relays (unconditional for all equipment / devices).

1. FLEXIBILITY

The HERGO system is provided with flexible supports, capable of absorbing and dissipating the vibrations generated by the current flow and installation environment.

1. INSULATION

The system is especially effective in humid and dusty environments, exposed to high dielectric strength and / or surface resistivity, such as foundries, planing mills, cement factories, tanneries, and marine environments.

1. DISSIPATION

The heating effect across the busbars is greatly reduced as these are arranged on different levels, with full exposure between phases if compared to traditional parallel systems. No derating is necessary for the current-carrying capacity of the busbars since these are not affected by thermal factors.

1. EASY ACCESS FOR INSPECTION

Tightening is accomplished by using torque wrenches only while a seal with red paint on fastening elements identifies any loosening, thus allowing you to CHECK EVERY CONNECTION WHEN THE SWITCHBOARD IS ENERGIZED .

1. COMPACTNESS

The HERGO system is the only one that can reach 5000-6000A ratings taking up a space of 30 cm in height and depth within the switchboard.

1. EXPEDITIOUSNESS

Increased speed and efficiency for on-site works and modifications, time and cost saving procedures, reduced downtime, all of this thanks to the HERGO system phase arrangement that allows operators to add switches - even if they had not been included in the initial phase of construction - and carry out modifications without the need to remove any of the busbars.

ARC RESISTANT DESIGN

As the latest research has shown, there is an increasing need to

provide a product that can withstand internal arc faults up to

standard requirements. An ever-increasing number of

environments require a switchboard that is ONLINE at all times,

which means regular maintenance works to switchboard sections

or continously manned stations for daily operation as well.

Safety is a constant concern, as proved by investments in

training for qualified personnel, in line with industrial safety

regulations and the requirements specified in the IEC 61641

standard for testing switchboards under conditions of arcing due

to an internal fault.

Why the internal arc? Because operators can suffer serious

injuries if an arc flash or blast occurs while performing

maintenance work, or due to improper handling or an external

event that might cause a short circuit at low impedance.

An electric arc generates an impressive amount of energy: even

a 20kA short circuit can be lethal, since it can produce a shock

wave with a thrust of 225Kg, release toxic gases that can reach a

temperature over 7-8000°C, a dazzling light and a deafening

boom of 160dB.

Cabel System has manufactured and tested an arc resistant

switchboard at CESI. Operators are protected against arc faults

in a “passive” manner, that is mechanically and regardless of

their position to the switchboard, without using arc detection

devices.

This test was conducted in compliance with the standard, for 0.3

seconds and was successful up to 100kA.

SERVING THE PLANT

Cabel System does not offer catalogue standard products, but

designs and manufactures specific and customised electrical

switchboards according to the real needs of the installer, so as to

integrate them into the target electric system. Motivated and

skilled personnel, used to addressing a wide range of issues on a

daily basis, is available to help customers or engineering

departments.

It follows that we always offer innovative, high-technology

solutions, mainly designed to reduce times for installation,

maintenance or modification, with live parts easily accessed by

operators.

A COMPREHENSIVE PRODUCT

Cabel System electric switchboards are a comprehensive product

in every respect. The manufacturing of a CE marked product

comes with the entire design documentation, including AS-BUILT

electrical diagrams, both in paper and electronic format, the

complete installation, operating and maintenance manual, the

test certificate and declaration of conformity.

RELIABILITY

After manufacturing at Cabel System laboratories, validation

tests are carried out on every switchboard and all its

components are filmed by a computer-based digital video

system to ensure quick customer service when checks or online

support for switchboards already delivered are required.

Customers can submit enquiries via fax or email and Cabel System

shall provide all the information they may need on a traditional

electrical diagram and also send a picture of the detail concerned,

which ensures the information provided is reliable.

In addition to this, a team of specialised technicians is available

to perform surveys in particular situations, commissioning,

periodic checks, changes and updating of the declaration of

conformity for switchboards already installed.

TEST, CHECK, INSPECTION... WITHOUT DE-ENERGIZING!

(in compliance with Italian Legislative Decree 81 of 9 April 2008

and 106 of 3 August 2009).

Cabel System offers a product that, although built with the most

complex form of segregation (Form 4B), allows a service

engineer to test all live parts and assess the thermal operating

conditions by using a simple laser thermometer.

Segregation is achieved by using materials which are either

transparent or in any case easy to inspect visually, without the

need to remove any mechanical components and, most

significantly, without de-energizing the switchboard.

No inconvenience is caused to the plant and efficiency is not

affected.
