Columbian Chemicals use MITA GRP

Richard Lander School Designed to DfES “School of the Future” standards, RichardLander School has been fitted out with more than 4000 metresof Cableline Solo in classrooms and offices to carry mains powerand data communications networks. Cableline Solo is a stylishand compact dado trunking. Three compartments are containedunder a single lid whilst data cable guides enable cables tomaintain minimum bend radii requirements.

The specifications for any Columbian Chemicals UK cable management system needsto be able to address the challenges of operating within a carbon blackenvironment. With its 55% glass and resin formulation, Mita’s GRP rangeprovides the strength and practicality required to offer an effectivesolution. It offers higher tensile strength to weight ratio thanstandard products and does not permanently deform underexcessive loads.

Lower grade glass reinforced products may use only uni-directionalstrand glass which can lead to weaknesses in the transverse direction. Mita’sGRP pultrusion products use a combination of uni-directional and cross strand glass mat, producing a very solid,structurally sound profile. The material is then covered with a surface veil to protect against weathering ensuring itslong term suitability for purpose.

North Wales Police Mains-power and data-communications wiring and cablingthroughout the new CommunicationsCentre of North Wales Police arecontained in Mita’s latest 2-compartment, Cableline Ultra 60dado perimeter trunking. Withdimensions of 190 x 62mm, Ultra 60has a dedicated 75 x 62mm datacompartment which provides securesegregated containment andprotection for the sensitive, high-bandwidth, high speed data-communications cabling. Ultra 60can hold up to 48 Cat 6 cables,whilst standard fittings provide for a50mm minimum bend radius.


MITA in Landmark Installation Containment and protection of power anddata cabling systems at the new NorthernIreland headquarters of Landmark East isprovided by a combination of multi-compartment trunking and pre-wiredpowertrack systems. Ultra 60, 2compartment trunking provides securesegregated containment for the mainspower, with a dedicated 75 x 62mmcompartment and 50mm radius bends forthe cat6 data cabling network. 2compartment TK Aluminium provides asafe, secure and attractive system tocomplement the interior décor in themanagers offices. Underfloor powertrackand pre-wired floor boxes provideadditional power and data outlets in otherareas to ensure maximum design flexibility.

Top of the Class for Wire Cable Tray Mita’s new aemsa Wire Cable Tray has been installed at the Guru Nanak Sikh Secondary School in Hayes, WestLondon, the first Sikh secondary school in the country, which is currently being enlarged as part of a £7.6m project.

aemsa Wire Cable Tray will carry data and powercables, including fire protection and sub-mainscabling. The tray has been supplied in an electro-zinc finish with a standard depth of 70mm, whichoffers greater carrying capacity and strength. Avariety of widths are being used ranging from100mm to 600mm.

aemsa Wire Cable Tray offers reduced installationtimes leading to cost savings and faster projectcompletion. Bends can be easily fabricated onsite using only bolt croppers and simple clamps.

Mita is the fashion Home to the London offices of Vogue magazine and some of theworld’s most successful international businesses, Hanover Square wasoriginally constructed as fashionable residences in the early 18thCentury. MITA provided more than 800m of three compartmentCableline to five floors of number 13 Hanover Square. The historiclayout presented a number of challenges, not least the irregular shapeof the bay windows. Mita provided a solution with bespoke angles tokeep the refurbishment on track.

Wibe Cable Ladders are based around a rapid fit system.The unique coupling method avoids the need for flatfishplates which require up to 32 nuts, bolts and washersets per coupling. Instead of the usual 10-15 minutestime taken per ladder, the Wibe coupler comes with 2captive bolts and a complete connection can be made inaround 30 seconds.

We would like to draw your attention

to the following important note:

Thermal expansion

uPVC is subject to thermal expansion and contraction, therefore care should be taken to

ensure that trunkings and trays are adequately supported along their length and are not

rigidly fixed to any base support or structure. Fixing holes should be made oversize and

screws should not be over tightened. A gap should be left between adjoining lengths to

allow for expansion, 2-3mm will be sufficient for most needs but where extremes of

temperature change are possible, a gap of 6mm should be left.

Conduit should be able to move freely within saddles or clips and it is recommended that

an expansion coupling is installed when a straight run exceeds 6 metres.

All systems are designed to allow installers to comply with current IEE regulations. These

notes are issued for guidance and to assist good practice and workmanship.

eConditions of Sale1. Definitions In these Conditions the following expressions shall have the followingmeanings: “the Company” means Mita (UK) Ltd; “the Customer”means the person, firm or corporation with whom the Companycontracts for the sale of the Goods upon the terms of theseConditions; “the Goods” means the products which are to bemanufactured by the Company and sold to the Customer pursuant tothe Contract; “the Contract” means the contract for the sale of theGoods by the Company to the Customer incorporating theseConditions arising from the Company’s acceptance of the Customer’sOrder’ and “working day” means any day of the week except a daywhich is a Saturday, a Sunday or a bank, public or statutory holiday.

2. General (a) Any quotation or estimate given by the Company is an invitationto the Customer to place an order and thereby make an offer opento acceptance by the Company and no order placed in response toor any other acceptance of a quotation or estimate shall give rise to acontract binding upon the Company.(b) These Conditions are the only conditions upon which theCompany transacts business and shall be incorporated in theContract to the exclusion of all other terms and conditions includingany terms or conditions specified or referred to in any order placedby the Customer. Any reference in any document forming part of orevidencing the Contract (including any order design drawingspecification or similar document) to any terms or condition ofpurchase or business of the Customer shall not have the effect ofincorporating any such terms or conditions in the Contract. Allrepresentations, whether written or oral, made prior to the acceptanceof the Customer’s order by the Company are expressly excludedfrom the Contract, unless otherwise agreed in writing by both parties.(c) No variation of these Conditions shall have effect unless it isagreed to by the Company in a document signed by a director of theCompany issued to the Customer.(d) The purchase of the Goods by the Customer from the Companyshall not confer upon the Customer any right, title or interest in anyintellectual property rights to which the Company may be entitled inconnection with the Goods but all such rights shall remain theexclusive property of the Company.

3. Prices (a) All prices are exclusive of Value Added Tax which will be chargedat the rate applicable.(b) Prices stated in quotations, estimates (whether written or oral),acceptance of order or other documents issued by the Companyprior to despatch of the Goods are not binding upon the Companyand the price charged shall be the price so stated adjusted to takeaccount of any increases or decreases in the cost of manufacture ofthe Goods subsequent to such statement of the price unless theprice so stated was also stated to be fixed and the Customer hascomplied in all respects with the terms and conditions specified bythe Company subject to which the price was stated to be fixed.(c) In the case of Goods to be delivered to a destination in theUnited Kingdom the Company will apply its minimum order value(including packaging and carriage but excluding Value Added Tax)fixed from time to time.(d) In the case of Goods to be delivered to a destination outside theUnited Kingdom, prices unless expressly stated to be otherwise, areex-works.

4. Passing of Risk The Goods shall be at the risk of the Customer from the time atwhich they are loaded on the vehicle on which they are to leave theCompany’s premises en route to the Customer whether such vehicleis the Customer’s or a third party’s vehicle.

5. Inspection (a) All Goods supplied under the Contract will be carefully inspectedin course of manufacture and, where applicable, shall be submitted tothe Company’s standard tests at its work before despatch. If theCustomer requests any other testing, unless otherwise agreed, thattesting shall take place at the Company’s works and any additionalcosts or expenses incurred by the Company shall be charged to theCustomer as an addition to the contract price. If the Customerrequests that testing should be done in the presence of himself/hisrepresentative then upon the Company giving notice of availability ofthe Goods for testing the Customer shall attend at the Company’sworks for such testing of the Goods within 7 days of such notice. Ifthe Customer fails to do so or if within 14 days of the Customerhaving done so the Customer does not notify the Company that theGoods are not in accordance with the Contract specifying the matterscomplained of, then the Customer shall be conclusively deemed tohave accepted that the goods are in accordance with the Contractand shall not thereafter be entitled to reject the Goods or to claimdamages or compensation from the Company on the grounds ofanything which such testing revealed or would have revealed if it hadbeen carried out.(b) The Customer shall inspect the Goods immediately upon theirarrival at the destination to which they are to be delivered pursuant tothe Contract for the purpose of ascertaining:- (i) that the number of items and packages and the quantities are as

specified and the Goods are as described in the Company’sDelivery Note;

(ii) whether the Goods have been damaged in transit;(iii) that the Goods are those specified in the Customer’s order stated

on the Company’s Delivery Note. Any discrepancy between theGoods delivered and those described in the Company’s DeliveryNote or specified in the Customer’s order and any damage to theGoods in transit must be notified to the Company in writing withinthree working days of the Customer’s receipt of the Goods. In thecase of Goods damaged in transit, the Customer shall retain thedamaged Goods for a period of one month from the date ofreceipt by the Customer during which period the Customer willpermit the Company, its employees and agents to inspect andexamine the Goods and the damage to them incurred in transit.In the case of non-delivery of the Goods the Customer mustnotify the Company in writing within ten working days of thereceipt by the Customer of the Company’s Delivery Note. Withoutprejudice to the provisions of Condition 4 no claim in respect ofnon-delivery or damage in transit will be entertained by theCompany unless the provisions of this Condition are compliedwith by the Customer. (c) Where the Goods are not manufacturedby the Company, are delivered direct to the Customer by, orcollected by the Customer from the manufacturer, the Companyshall not be liable for any loss or damage to the Goodswhatsoever and whensoever occurring.

6. Cancellation of Orders The Customer shall not be entitled to cancel an order which hasbeen accepted by the Company except upon terms which reimbursethe Company for its loss of profit and all costs, charges and expenses(including costs of tooling and purchase of raw materials) incurred bythe Company in respect of the order up to the date of receipt by theCompany of written notification of cancellation from the Customer.

7. Payment (a) Unless the Customer has a credit account with the Company thecontract price for the Goods shall be payable with the Customer’sorder or against a proforma invoice.(b) Where the Customer has a credit account with the Company,payment for the Goods shall be made not later than the last day ofthe month following the month in which the Goods were despatchedfrom the Company’s premises unless the Company has agreed inwriting to extend additional credit to the Customer. The time stipulatedfor payment shall be of the essence and failure to pay within theperiod specified shall entitle the company on the expiration of 14days notice in writing to the Customer to suspend furtherperformance of the Contract pending payment and in addition theCompany shall be entitled without liability wholly or partly to cancelthe Contract or any other contract between the Company and theCustomer without prejudice to any other remedy available to theCompany.(c) Customers wishing to open a credit account with the Companymust furnish credit references which unless otherwise stated shall beone bank reference and two trade references.(d) Where Goods are delivered by instalments, the Customer shallpay for each instalment in accordance with the terms of thisCondition.(e) Unless otherwise agreed in writing the Customer shall not beentitled to set off against any monies due to the Company under theContract, any amount claimed by or due to the Customer from theCompany whether pursuant to the Contract or on any other accountwhatsoever.(f) The Company shall be entitled to interest (as well before as afterany judgement) on any part of the Contract price not paid by its duedate from that date until actual payment at the rate of 4% per annumabove Lloyds Bank plc’s base lending rate prevailing from time totime during such period.(g) The Company may, by notice in writing to the Customer, declareall other sums owing by the Customer to the Company (whetherunder the Contract or any other contracts or on any other account)which at the date of the notice are not immediately due and payableto be immediately due and payable and the Customer shall pay thesame to the Company accordingly.

8. Title to the Goods (a) Title to and property in the Goods shall remain vested in theCompany (notwithstanding their delivery and the passing of the risktherein to the Customer) until (1) the price of the goods; and (2) allother money due from the Customer to the Company on any otheraccount or pursuant to any other contract has been paid dischargedor satisfied in full.(b) Until the title to and property in the Goods pass to the Customerthe following provisions shall apply:(i) The Company may at any time without prior notice to the

Customer repossess and resell the Goods if any of the eventsspecified in Condition 16 occurs or if any sum due from theCustomer to the Company under the Contract or on any otheraccount or pursuant to any other contract is not paid on the duedate for payment. For the purpose of exercising its rights underthis sub-paragraph the Company, its employees or agentstogether with any vehicles considered by the Company to benecessary shall be entitled at any time without prior notice to theCustomer to free and unrestrict ed entry upon and access to theCustomer’s premises and/or other locations where any of theGoods are situated.

(ii) The Customer shall store the Goods in a proper manner inconditions which adequately protect and preserve them withoutcharge to the Company and ensure that they are clearly identifiedas belonging to the Company. The Company shall be entitled toexamine the Goods in storage at any time during normalbusiness hours and upon giving the Customer reasonable noticeof its intention to do so and to enter upon any premises ownedor occupied or access to which is controlled by the Customer forthat purpose.

(iii) The rights and remedies conferred upon the Company by thisCondition 8 are in addition to and shall not in any way prejudice,limit or restrict any other rights or remedies of the Companyunder the Contract.

9. Performance of the Contract (a) Dates or periods for delivery are approximate. If having used itsreasonable endeavours to comply with any date or dates specified inthe Contract for the despatch or delivery of the Goods to theCustomer the Company is unable to do so such failure shall notconstitute a breach of contract by the Company entitling theCustomer to terminate the Contract and/or to claim damages againstthe Company and the Company shall be entitled to an extension ofthe time fixed for delivery which is reasonable in all thecircumstances.(b) If the Company so agrees the Customer may collect the Goodsin which case the Customer shall collect them within 3 days of beingnotified that they are ready for collection failing which the Companymay despatch the Goods at the Customer’s risk and expense orstore them in which even the Customer shall pay the Company’sreasonable storage charges and the Goods shall be stored at theCustomer’s risk. If the Customer requests the Company to delaydespatch of the Goods and the Company agrees to do so theCustomer shall pay the Company’s reasonable storage charges andthe Goods shall be stored at the Customer’s risk as from the dateupon which the Goods are ready for despatch.

10. Acceptance of the Goods by the Customer The Customer shall be deemed to have accepted the Goods and itshall be conclusively agreed that they are in accordance with theContract unless within 10 working days of receipt of the Goods theCustomer notifies the Company in writing of any defect in materials orworkmanship or failure to comply with designs drawingsspecifications or other data supplied by the Customer or any otherfailure of the Goods to conform with the Contract which would beapparent upon such inspection and testing as it is reasonable for theCustomer to undertake within such 10 working days.

11. Guarantee (a) If the Goods are to be manufactured entirely in accordance withdesigns drawings specifications and other data supplied by theCustomer and provided that the Goods are so manufactured theCompany shall not be liable to the Customer in contract or in tort(including breach of statutory duty) for any loss or damage theCustomer may suffer because the Goods subsequently prove to beunsuitable for the purpose or purposes for which the Customerrequired them or prove not to be of merchantable quality within themeaning of the Sale of Goods Act 1979.(b) Where the Goods supplied or any part thereof are not of theCompany’s own manufacture the guarantee below shall not apply butthe Company will use all reasonable endeavours to pass on to theCustomer the benefit of any guarantee or warranty given by thesupplier of such Goods to the Company.(c) Subject to (a) and (b) above and to the provisions of Condition10 if the Customer establishes to the reasonable satisfaction of theCompany that:(i) there is a defect in the materials or workmanship of the Goods;(ii) there is a failure on the part of the Company to manufacture the

Goods in accordance with the designs, drawings, specifications orother data supplied by the Customer;

(iii) there is some other failure on the part of the Company in relationto the Goods to conform with the Contract; then the Companyshall at its option either: (aa) replace the Goods with goods whichin all respects are in accordance with the Contract; or (bb) repairor make good such defect or failure free of charge (including allcosts of transportation of the Goods to and from the parties forthat purpose) to the Customer; subject in every case to theremaining provisions of this Condition.

(d) Paragraph (b) of this Condition (“the Guarantee”) shall not apply:(i) unless the Customer notifies the Company in writing of the

alleged defect or failure immediately upon its first becomingaware thereof and in any event within 6 months of the date uponwhich the risk in the Goods passed to the Customer under theprovisions of Condition 4;

(ii) unless the Customer as soon as reasonably practicable after firstbecoming aware of the alleged defect or failure returns theGoods in each case where it is practicable to do so to theCompany, carriage paid, for inspection examination and testingand in any other case permits the Company to have access tothe Goods at the Customer’s premises for such purposes’

(iii) if the alleged defect or failure is caused by other parts of anycomponent or assembly into which the Goods are incorporatedby the Customer. (e) If the Company elects to replace the Goodsit shall at its own expense deliver the replacement goods to theCustomer at the address at which the defective goods werelocated and the title to the defective goods shall (if it has beenvested in the Customer) re-vest in the Company and theCustomer shall make any such arrangements as may benecessary for the purpose of delivering up the defective goods tothe Company. If the Company elects to repair or make good theGoods and such work is to be carried out at the Customer’spremises the Customer shall permit the Company to have suchaccess to the Goods on such premises as the Company mayrequire for that purpose.

(f) The Guarantee is in substitution for any other legal remedy of theCustomer in respect of the alleged defect or failure and the liability ofthe Company shall in all such cases and for all such purposes belimited to the obligations imposed by the Guarantee. Any othercondition warranty representation or undertaking on the part of theCompany as to the quality of the Goods or their fitness or suitabilityfor any purpose however and whenever expressed or which may beimplied by statute custom of the trade or otherwise is herebyexcluded and the provisions of Sections 13 to 15 inclusive of theSale of Goods Act 1979 shall not apply to the Contract except wherethe Customer deals as consumer within Section

12 of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.Except as and to the extent provided by the Guarantee the Companyshall not be liable to the Customer in contract or in tort (includingbreach of statutory duty) for any loss or damage direct, indirect orconsequential (including economic loss of any kind) which theCustomer may suffer by reason of any act, omission, neglect ordefault (including negligence) in the performance of the Contract bythe Company, its employees or agents.(g) Nothing contained in this Condition shall operate so as:(i) to exclude the liability of the Company for death or personal

injury resulting from the negligence of the Company, itsemployees or agents;

(ii) to exclude the conditions and warranties implied by Section 12of the Sale of Goods Act 1979;

(iii) to impose on the Company any liability in respect of anyrepresentation, suggestion or comment with regard to the Goodsmade by the Company, its employees or agents in the course ofany negotiations between the Company and the Customerleading to the making of the Contract unless in the case of anysuch representation the Company has expressly agreed in writingthat it shall be a term of the Contract.

(h) If at the request of the Customer a certificate of conformity isprovided the issue thereof shall not operate to confer upon theCustomer any rights or remedies against the Company in respect ofthe Goods which the Customer would not have had in the absenceof any such certificate.

12. Sub-contracting The Company shall be entitled to sub-contract the manufacture ofthe Goods in whole or in part.

13. Health and Safety The attention of the Customer is drawn to the provisions of Section 6of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 a amended. TheCompany will make available all such information and revisions ofinformation on the design, construction, testing and installation of thegoods as is in its possession to ensure that as far as is reasonablypracticable the goods are safe and without risk to health when beingused by a person at work. The Customer undertakes in accordancewith Section (8) of the Act to take all steps sufficient to ensure thatthe goods will be safe and without risk to health at all times whenused by, or on behalf of, the Customer.

14. Testing and Inspection Prior to Delivery If the Contract provides for testing or inspection of the Goods by oron behalf of the Customer prior to delivery whether at the Company’spremises or elsewhere, then upon the Company giving notice ofavailability of the Goods for testing and/or inspection the Customershall inspect and/or test the Goods within 7 days of such notice. Ifthe Customer fails to do so within 14 days or the Customer having

done so the Customer does not notify the Company that the Goodsare not in accordance with the Contract specifying the matterscomplained of, then the Customer shall be conclusively deemed tohave accepted that the goods are in accordance with the Contractand shall not thereafter be entitled to reject the Goods or to claimdamages or compensation from the Company on the grounds ofanything which such testing and/or inspection revealed or would haverevealed if it had been carried out.

15. Customer’s Designs, Drawings, Specifications andOther Data (a) The Customer shall be solely responsible for the accuracy of itdesigns, drawings, specifications and other data (if any) supplied tothe Company by the Customer its employees or agents and inconformity with which the Company is to manufacture the Goodsnotwithstanding that the Company may have examined, inspected,studied or commented to the Customer upon any such designs,drawings, specifications or other data.(b) The Customer shall indemnify the Company against all actions,proceedings, claims, costs and expenses which may be broughtagainst or incurred by the Company by reason of its manufacturingand supplying the Goods in accordance with such designs, drawings,specifications or other data whether or not it is alleged in such actionsproceedings and claims that any patent trade mark design copyrightdesign right confidential information or other intellectual property orother exclusive right of any third party has been infringed.(c) If the Company is required in connection with the manufacture ofthe Goods to carry out any research or development work allintellectual property rights therein shall be the absolute property of theCompany and the Customer shall keep confidential all informationdisclosed by the Company to it concerning such research anddevelopment work and shall not exploit such information for its ownpurposes without the prior written consent of the Company providedthat the foregoing provision shall not prevent the Customer fromusing the Goods for whatever purpose it may think fit.

16. Breach of Contract by or Insolvency of the Customer If any of the following events occurs or in the opinion of theCompany is reasonably likely to occur:(a) the Customer commits any breach of the Contract; or (b) any distress or execution is levied upon any of the Goods orproperty of the Customer and is not paid out within 7 days; or (c) the Customer (or where the Customer is a partnership anypartner thereof) offers to make any arrangements with or for thebenefit of its or his creditors generally or a petition is presented tomake the Customer or any such partner bankrupt; or (d) the Customer (being a limited company) has an AdministrativeReceiver or a Receiver and Manager appointed of the whole or anypart of its undertaking property or assets or a petition is presented oran order is made or a resolution is passed for the winding up of theCustomer or for the appointment of an Administrator thereof theCompany may without prejudice to any other rights or remedies itmay have against the Customer forthwith suspend furtherperformance of the Contract or by notice in writing to the Customerterminate the Contract as it thinks fit. Notwithstanding any suchsuspension or termination, the Customer shall pay the Company inaccordance with the Contract for all Goods despatched by theCompany prior thereto and shall indemnify the Company against anyloss, liability or expense incurred by the Company in connection withthe Contract including (without prejudice to the generality of theforegoing) loss of profit, liabilities and expenses in connection withraw materials and tooling obtained or produced for the purposes ofthe Contract and the cost of labour and overhead expensesreasonably attributable to the Contract.

17. Force Majeure If the Company is delayed or prevented from performing the Contractor any part thereof by circumstances beyond its reasonable controlincluding (but without limiting the generality of the foregoing) strikes,lockouts, or other industrial action, inability to obtain materials orlabour, power or machinery breakdown or failure, fire, flood, civilcommotion or any cause of whatever kind and whenever occuring,then the Company may suspend further performance of the Contractfor so long as it is so delayed or prevented and such suspensionshall not constitute a breach of the Contract on the part of theCompany. The Company shall notify the Customer in writing of anysuch suspension of performance of the Contract and if suchsuspension continues for more than 12 weeks either the Companyor the Customer may by notice in writing to the other terminate theContract but without prejudice to the Company’s right to be paid inaccordance with the Contract for any part of the Goods which mayhave been despatched to the Customer prior to the suspension ofperformance by the Company and to be reimbursed all other costs,charges and expenses incurred by the Company pursuant to theContract up to the date of such notice of termination where it is givenby the Company and up to the date of receipt thereof by theCompany where it is given by the Customer.

18. Waiver The rights and remedies of the Company in respect of the Contractor in respect of any failure by the Customer to observe or complywith the terms thereof shall not be diminished, waived or extinguishedby the granting of any indulgence, forbearance or extension of timeby the Company nor by any failure of or delay by the Company inasserting or exercising any such rights or remedies.

19. Law and Jurisdiction The Contract shall be governed by and construed in all respects inaccordance with English Law and the Company and the Customersubmit themselves to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.

20. Headings The headings to these Conditions are inserted for ease of referenceand shall not affect their construction.

21. Notices Any notice authorised or required to be given pursuant to theseConditions shall in the case of a notice to the Company be sent to itat its registered office and shall in the case of a notice to theCustomer be sent to the Customer at its registered office if theCustomer is a Company and in any other case to the address of theCustomer last known to the Company. Any such notice may be givenby post, telex or facsimile transmission. To prove service in the caseof a notice given by post it shall be sufficient to show that the noticewas despatched by first class recorded delivery service in a correctlyaddressed and adequately stamped envelope and to prove service inthe case of a notice given by telex or facsimile transmission it shall besufficient to show that it was made to the correct telex or telephonenumber. Service shall be deemed to have been effected 24 hoursafter despatch by post telex or facsimile transmission.
