What is Cable TV? CATV is a method of providing

consumers with access to television programs via cable located in the subscribers’ premises.

How does it work? In CATV, the signals are sent

through cables and not through the air, thus doing away with "line of sight" requirement and enabling much better quality of reception. The television signals that come via cable are not disturbed by trees, buildings, or other hindrances.

Most operators are hesitant in freely discussing their pricing structure and strategies.

They charge more or less the same price irrespective of their area of functioning or the number of customers or the model of payment.

Most of them rely on providing high quality service and reducing rates (as much as possible) to face the cut throat competition.

They depend majorly on word of mouth for their promotions and do not believe in incurring additional costs related to it.

Pricing Strategy.

They operate usually only in their respective areas and do not enter into each others territories.

Most of them are well established in their area over years and hence enjoy a monopoly type of a structure in their particular areas.

How much area do they cover?

Page 22: cable tv final (2)

The major problem they face is the increasing number of users switching to  the big players like Tata Sky, Reliance, Siegel and Dish TV.

By providing quality service to the customers.Comparatively Less price.Discount for those who pay for the whole year.Additional packages to the customers.

How do they compete with the competitors?

Page 23: cable tv final (2)

Cable operators get complaints on a daily basis and always have to deal with them on an urgent basis, so therefore the cable operators remain on their toes 24x7.

The cable TV operators are currently sustaining themselves in the market only because of the close contact that they have maintained with their customers . If not for that they would have been extinct from the market by now.
