CADWorx Design Viewer Email the AutoCAD model drawing (DWG) files and the *.CDR file.

If you are attaching large or multiple files to your eCustomer log, use a compression utility such as WinZIP.

If you cannot attach your drawing files, then try to duplicate the issue in a new drawing with as few components as possible. If the issue can be duplicated in a new drawing, attach the duplicate drawing to Intergraph CAS.

For hardware lock issues, first verify that you have an Intergraph CAS hardware lock. CADWorx Plant Professional, CADWorx P&ID, CADWorx P&ID Professional, CADWorx Plant Ductile Iron, and CADWorx Plant Sanitary use the Intergraph CAS hardware lock for licensing. CADWorx Steel, CADWorx Steel Professional Plus do not use the Intergraph CAS hardware lock for licensing. For more information about hardware locks, see CADWorx Hardware Lock Identification in the CADWorx Installation Guide.

  • Preface

    10 CADWorx fieldPipe User's Guide

  • CADWorx fieldPipe User's Guide 11

CADWorx users can work directly and efficiently with large point clouds using CADWorx fieldPipe tools and commands. The CADWorx application adds simple tools for viewing and working with slices of point cloud data to speed up 3D drawing creation. Powerful new modeling tools enable as-built piping models and other 3D constructions to be created from point cloud data in the CADWorx environment.

CADWorx fieldPipe is the most efficient and popular software for using as-built point cloud data captured by Leica laser scanners directly within CADWorx Plant Professional. You can take advantage of the familiar CADWorx interface and tools to shorten the learning curve for working with laser scan data.

You can create 3D as-builts, check proposed designs against existing conditions, perform critical construction and fabrication QA, and more all directly within CADWorx fieldPipe.

CADWorx fieldPipe uses the CloudWorx commands and enables you to load a Cyclone ModelSpace View directly from a Cyclone database into AutoCAD 2010 and later. You can load all visible point clouds in the selected ModelSpace View. To ensure that you are working with the most recent data, CloudWorx provides dynamic linkage to the Cyclone database and updates the point clouds as soon as a change is made to the database.

CloudWorx loads only point clouds into CAD-based applications. To import Cyclone-modeled objects into CAD (or vice versa), use Leica Geosystems HDS's COE Data Transfer import/export product.

Requirements for fieldPipe To run all aspects of fieldPipe, the following requirements are needed for each palette:

    Installation Requirements

The following items are needed to run the CADWorx fieldPipe - CloudWorx Interface palette in fieldPipe and must be installed in this order:

    AutoCAD 2010 or later.

Latest Cyclone - This program is included on the installation disk and must be installed separately. To run the MS50 data you must have cyclone version 8.0.3.

    CADWorx Plant 2013 or later.

The installation for fieldPipe is contained within the CADWorx installation.

If Leica CloudWorx is installed on your computer, it may cause a license issue for CADWorx fieldPipe. To prevent this issue do the following:

    1. Uninstall Leica CloudWorx,

    2. Reboot the computer.

    3. Reinstall CADWorx fieldPipe.

    Hardware Requirements (Optional)

The following item is needed to run the CADWorx fieldPipe - TPS Interface palette in fieldPipe:

Leica TPS scanner with GEoCOM enabled

    Alignment

Align - Automatically aligns two pieces of pipe during routing, piping, and connecting. For example, if there is a pipe out 95 degrees from a 90 degree elbow, the alignment adjusts the current pipe in the direction of the 90 degrees from 95 by adjusting the current pipe end point near the intersection while keeping the previous pipe fixed. This is also done with a 45 degree elbow.

Tol Angle - Specifies the tolerance angle for the alignment. If the difference between the actual angle of the two pipes and the angles of 180, 90, 45, 22.5, or 11.25 is beyond the Tol Angle, Align does not apply.

Tol Linear - Specifies the tolerance length for inserting valves and setting the specification using From Point Cloud. For more information, see Insert a valve or flange (on page 25) and From Point Cloud (on page 27).

Default Fitting - Specifics the default end type fitting for the components.

    Specification

Set - Enables you to set the specification through the Set Specification and Size dialog box. For more information, see Set Specification and Size in the CADWorx Plant Users Guide.

From Point Cloud - Enables you to set the rating of the specification automatically. For more information, see From Point Cloud (on page 27).

When a pipe is inserted into fieldPipe the software detects the size and places the piping according to the algorithm in the code.

If two pipes with different size need to be connected with an elbow, the software changes the smaller pipe into the same size as the larger one, in order to connect with an elbow.

    Routing with elbows

CADWorx fieldPipe - CloudWorx Interface Palette: Routing with elbows

    Command line: FPROUTE

Enables you to route piping by selecting a point on the point cloud while automatically aligning the pipe to the size of the pipe you select. Routing automatically adds elbows upon finish to connect two sections of piping on the same line.

usingFence - Enables you to fence a section of piping in the point cloud and fieldPipe draws the piping automatically when the component size is available in the specification.

changePickpoint - Enables you to pick a new point on a point cloud to change the already placed piping.

    Automatically connect two pipes

CADWorx fieldPipe - CloudWorx Interface Palette: Automatically Connect two pipes

    Command line: FPCONNECT

Enables you to connect two pieces of pipe. The examples below demonstrate how your piping should appear to get the proper connection:

LargeEnd - Starts the reducer at the large end of pipe, and extends the small end of pipe to the small end of the reducer. This is the default.

SmallEnd - Starts the reducer at the small end of the pipe, and extends the large end of the pipe to the end of the reducer.

For the above two options, adjust your piping based on the option you choose. For example, if you choose SmallEnd, make sure the small end pipe is touching the small end of the representation of the reducer in the cloud. If you choose LargeEnd, the pipe only adjusts on the small end. If you choose SmallEnd the pipe only adjusts on the large end.

If no valve is available in the specification for the length specified in the drawing, a prompt displays stating that the specific size is not available. CADWorx searches the specification for any valve matching the following formula:

    fabs (Length - L1- (L2 X 2) - (L3 X 2)) < Tol Linear

Length = The length specified in the drawing indicated by the arrow.

L1 = The length of the valve in the specification.
