Dear Friends, rdI am delighted on this 23 Anniversary of Cadabam's Group as our dearest Late

Amitha M Cadabam memorial is going to be unveiled by Dr. K. Rosaiah, His Excellency Governor of Tamil Nadu. The Vision of Cadabams Group, 'Access to Quality Mental Health' is inspired by her and I consider to be lucky that she is my Aunt

and (her brother) my father resolved then that every person with mental health problem should have access to quality mental health care leading to forming of Cadabams Group which is now proudly the most sought after place for Psycho social rehabilitation.

Cadabams Hospitals being functional since May 2015 has added a new dimension to Cadabam's Group making us most comprehensive mental health care centre with ability to offer primary, secondary and tertiary level services.

One of the challenging issue in psycho social rehabilitation has been to sustain quality service with gamut of professionals involved, while managing spiralling service cost. It is in this context that we have thought of building a Psycho Social rehabilitation block with unique design and functional arrangements which help us offer our services at most affordable cost. This new additional block will add to the existing 450 Beds in AMITHA campus and making it 650 Bedded Psycho social Rehabilitation Block. The plan is to have this block operational by end of 2016.

Cancer is becoming one another major public health issue in our country. There is so much of advances in medical science from Diagnosis to treatment options in cancer care in the last few decades that it's remarkable and commendable. Despite all this there is significant percentage of people who end up being with life limiting condition with little hope of cure. This is not just medical issue but a major psychological and sociological issue as well. While alleviating patients symptoms is primary, equally important is the issue of psycho-socio-spiritual support to both patient and family. ALAYA Home for Cancer Care Trust is a new initiative in this direction proposing to offer Palliative and Hospice care. A huge 72000 SFT of Building is identified for this purpose and shall be ready for operations by early 2017.

Its 23 years, looking back it is very satisfying but there is so much to be done and there is so many more lives to touched and cared.

I take this opportunity to congratulate this year Cadabams Distinguished Psychiatrist and Mental Health professional awardees. I wish many more laurels to them.

It's not bricks which build an institution, its people who make it. I am very pleased to share the unwavering efforts of executive, clinical and support team at Cadabams and their support to vision of rendering quality mental health care to all.

Late Amitha M Cadabam posed many challenges to a family which did not know what mental health was then, but later she herself became inspiration for her brother who had seen the ordeal the parents were facing to envision a place where many sisters like Late Amitha are taken care & home away from home is created. This led to the foundation of Cadabams Group of psychosocial rehabilitation centres which now has distinctive mark in the field of Mental Health care of the country with 8 different specialty centres and internationally acclaimed therapeutic programs.

rdThis 23 Anniversary is a special occasion for all of us at Cadabams Group and Family to have a Memorial to Late Amitha M Cadabam and that too to be unveiled by none other than Dr K.Rosaiah His Excellency, Governor of Tamil Nadu.

‘ALAYA' Home for Cancer Care Trust is envisioned and conceived to provide Cancer care beyond cure. The Trust offers Palliative and Hospice care to terminally ill cancer suffering patients. In our country it is known that people generally approach professionals at not early stages of cancer leading to less chance of recovery and cure and leading to life limiting condition. The challenges of managing a person with life limiting condition is multi fold in nature. The physical condition needs constant supervision and support in both activities of daily living to keeping them mobile. Psychologically both person with life limiting condition and his/her family will go through guilt, anger, anxiety and total emotional turmoil. Adding to this is the financial burden along with social and spiritual concern. Hence the problem being multi fold the approach at ALAYA is also multi fold and multidisciplinary.

At ALAYA Home for Cancer Care Trust the aim is to provide

Good Quality of life to person with Life Limiting Illness especially the focus being on Cancer Care.

Helping and providing Pain relief and other distressing symptoms with utmost care by multidisciplinary team especially trained for the purpose

Supporting patients with all possible means and measure to keep them as active as possible.

PROPOSED FACILITIES

ALAYA Home for Cancer Care Trust has identified 72000 SFT constructed Building which needs restructuring to suit the needs of Palliative Care and Hospice Care.

INPATIENT FACILITIES

ALAYA will have all types of accommodations to stay ranging from common multi bed room to luxurious independent rooms which will be recommended by the Care Team depending upon the care needed and also patients needs and requirements.

INPATIENT SERVICES

The Palliative and Hospice Care: In many Cancer patients there comes a stage when it is termed as terminal. Meaning no further medical curative treatments will stop the disease process leading to death. Death is inevitable and final to all without exception. But for a person diagnosed with life limiting condition it is very difficult and exhausting. ALAYA proposes to provide Palliative and Hospice care to these people making the most turbulent times as smooth as possible.

Cadabams AMITHA Psycho social rehabilitation centre is the largest of the Group centres having a bed strength of 450 offering a range from Multi-bed Dormitory to Super Luxurious cottages with range of therapeutic programmes like Short Term Rehabilitation, Long Term Rehabilitation, Supported Education, Reel Therapy, Occupation therapy unit to well equipped and state of the art Nursing and Medical complex, spacious Dining Hall, Pragati Hall which is a spacious Activity Complex , Indoor Games area, Gym , Outdoor Games Area to lush Green landscaped canopies for outdoor group activities to just name a few.

Adding to this large facilities centre is Vinodamma & Narashimha Rehabilitation Block & Mehalal Padma Dining Complex. This is a 200 Bedded unit inside AMITHA Centre. The facilities at the new Rehabilitation Block would be:

CADABAM’S BRIGHT STAR 2015 AWARD:

CADABAM’S has been striving and making inroads into varied arena of mental health care with a sole mission of

empowering persons with mental health problems. Supported employment, CADABAM’S BPO, Supported Living

“AAKANKSHA”, “NEERAJA” outlets are just few to mention. To encourage and to show case that a mental illness

diagnosis is no barrier for achievement and to at least lead a normal life, BRIGHT STAR award was conceived in the year

2011 where a talented and well rehabilitated resident of CADABAM’S doing well in the society is awarded and

encouraged.

CADABAM’S BRIGHT STAR has two segments one for Addiction and other for persons with Mental Illness in which

recovered persons are selected for the award. The award is given in front of persons undergoing rehabilitation which

encourages them and instils hope and betters self esteem both hit hard due to the illness. The BRIGHT STAR awardee will

also be given chance to speak and share his journey with the audience which not just helps other recovering individuals

to reflect upon themselves but also educates the audience to understand mental illness & need to be positivistic.

CADABAM'S Group:

The most comprehensive psycho social rehabilitation centre with over 400 persons with various mental health

issues undergoing rehabilitation under one roof and 1000's being reintegrated back to society and family.

The centre is spread across sprawling 5,59,000 Sq Ft of land area and a built up are of about 2,30,000 Sq Ft.

More than 50% of the area being open with greenery, walking path, space for outdoor games it in itself soothes the troubled mind.

Over 70 mental health professionals work round the clock with 24*7 ambulance and nursing care to not only

manage the psychiatric problems but also the associated medical issues.

NEERAJA out lets India's first Supported Employment facility managed by the rehabilitated residents was

conceived and founded by CADABAM'S.

no bar for excellening in life. To have Nobel laureates like John Nash who had Schizophrenia in India also.

II. REEL Therapy Club is a platform for professionals working on cinema therapy to exchange

their views and knowledge.

III. FILM FESTIVAL a carnival of world class movies screened with a therapeutic aim as CINEMA THERAPY

IV. BRIGHT STAR a recognition for persons with mental health issues who have won over the illness.

V. CADABAM'S BPO an initiative of Residents of centre supported by Mr Sandesh R Cadabam

(the young scion of cadabams group) as part of their Recovery.

Anunitha has set a new trend and is a distinctive milestone in our journey in mental health care. Cadabam's Hospitals which is shaping up for operations to serve people in acute psychiatric emergencies will complete the long needed demand of psychiatric hospital into Cadabam's Group fold. We have envisaged to reach to more people in need of crisis psychiatric care with this new venture and also to offer super specialty psychiatric care.
