eShare introduces Smart Points and Impersonation

One of the main features of eShare is the abil-ity to access information in external systems via a 3D model interface. In some cases, however, the design model does not contain items that could represent the information. For example, corrosion inspection points are not part of the design model, but just points on the surface of

the pipes and equipment in the model. In such cases, smart points can be used to add visible items to the model in eShare, and assign iden-tifiers to them. External data can then be ac-cessed using these identifiers.

An adapter for the OSISoft PI System process historian is now available, and it can utilize the smart points to mark the measured instruments in the model.

Adapters in eShare can now utilize imperson-ation which means that an external system is accessed with the credentials of the logged-in user. The system can then limit use according to its own access control rules. This means that us-ers of eShare will not see anything they would otherwise not have access to.

Cadmatic’s office in Mumbai, India has had a busy and interesting start to 2015. The office has acquired several new customers both in the marine and plant design sectors. The re-sultant software implementations and in-creased level and scope of marketing activi-ties have kept the Mumbai team busy.

The company is currently recruiting staff for its technical support department in order to serve existing clients even better and

manage the growing customer base. As part of these recent developments the office has been relocated to bigger premises in a brand new of-fice building in Thane.

According to Roshansingh Navlur, Director of Sales & Operations of India and Southeast Asia Cadmatic is in an exciting transition from a tech-nology company to a market and sales-driven organization.

“Our strong sales growth proves that we pro-vide value to our customers and it also dem-onstrates our skills in increasing volumes and commercializing our software to the client’s re-quirements. Our key success factor is our com-petence in the design and development of functionalities that are user-friendly, fast and suitable for use in both the plant and marine sectors”, explains Mr Navlur.

Mr Navlur stresses that customer satisfaction is a key objective at Cadmatic.

“I am happy to say that throughout this growth process we have been able to main-tain – and even improve – our good track record. I was promoted to Director at the beginning of 2013. On my visits to custom-ers around India and South East Asia, I have learnt a lot about how they optimize re-source utilization with our software solution. We strive for long-term customer relation-ships, by this I mean relationships that last for ten years to begin with and preferably last longer.”

Cadmatic’s success in India and South East Asia has placed it in a very good position in the marine and plant industries, in particular in the nuclear industry.

“Major companies in the marine and nucle-ar segments are our clients: Larsen &Toubro (the most important marine and plant indus-try EPC in the Indian private sector), and as well NPCIL (the state-owned nuclear power corporation), and many other engineering companies. We want to grow stronger in the region each year with our highly motivated and strong workforce”, Mr Navlur concludes.

Already a Cadmatic user since 2009, NPCIL has increased its number of Cadmatic licens-es and upgraded to the latest version.

NPCIL is currently finishing nuclear power plant units 3 and 4 in Kakrapar, Gujarat where each unit will have the capacity to

produce 700 MWe of electricity. Combined with units 1 and 2 the plant will have a total capacity of 1840 MWe. Construction will be completed by mid-2016 and the units will become opera-tional by the end of 2016.

Around 100 Cadmatic licenses are being used by NPCIL and its subcontractors to complete the project, which is massive in terms of the physical size of the area, pipelines, equipment, HVAC, cable trays, etc. Close cooperation be-tween NPCIL and Cadmatic’s local technical and development teams has kept the project on schedule despite demanding requirements and several project changes.

According the Walley Design owner, Mr Rober-to Rambaldini, they keep up to date with the latest news in all their fields of competence, including the latest releases of software, in or-der to take advantage of all possibilities and to be able to support their customers in the most qualified way.

Mr Rambaldini feels that a big plus point for Cadmatic is its very high quality/price ratio. The Cadmatic support team also receives a lot of praise from Walley Design, in particular with re-gards the way they supported the software im-plementation. They are also satisfied with how well suited Cadmatic is for their pipeline mod-elling and design.

“Based on our experience Cadmatic seems to be well suited for our design projects and our way of working and requirements. For example, it is pretty easy to start a new pipeline model or update an existing layout and work on it”, says Mr Rambaldini.

Laser scanning integration

Another feature which is used extensively by Walley Design is the integration with other de-sign software and laser scanned materials.

“We appreciate Cadmatic’s capability to effi-ciently interact with other design software. Cur-rently our Cadmatic licenses are being used primarily for a new project in Naples: it con-sists of a new pipeline to be modelled after de-tailed scanning activities of existing encum-brances in the installation area. In this project it has been very important that the modelling software can perfectly interact with the results obtained from laser scanning activities (its ded-icated software), so that we can have the new pipeline included in the existing survey and allow the correct placement of new supports without any clashes with existing objects”, Mr Rambaldini explains.
