Technology: a hero or a villain Are you one of those technophobes trapped in this cutting-edge society, or you think you would feel like the fish out of the water if some our technological miracles were to disappear. Despite having a soft spot for the precious helpers a.k.a. the washing machine and the vacuum cleaner, I am convinced to the bits that the society could function perfectly fine without the presence of the state-of-the-art gadgets such as iPods, iPads, mp3s and Kindles. It may have something to do with the fact that I spend the formative years of my life deprived of the latest miracles of technology, spending time with my parents who always took special care of our home. Having spent long hours at their work during the workday, they would leave the weekend for the common chores. And what do these have in common? Spending hours of the time you don’t have on work that deprives you of the time you could spend chatting with the loved ones if nothing else. So, yeah, it was probably then, that I started appreciating the value of the vacuum and the washing machine. I can’t also deny that the time spent without the electricity due to all sorts of problems had made me realize how much time we squander if we are faced with doing the cleaning and washing manually. You would probably agree with me on this; you don’t have to be a keen observing to notice people around you constantly typing, tapping and pressing buttons on their hi-tech devices. And way is that? Again the answers are well-known- to check in on foursquare, get up-to-date with all VIP gossip or upload the previously photoshopped pic on one of the numerous social networks’ websites. Is this truly a necessity? I would say ‘no’. Worldwide people are bombarded by a variety of latest gadget and their upgraded models which are supposed to ease your hectic lifestyle. However, what it actually manages to do is make us all more stressed as we don’t actually have enough time to devote
